HOw to remove rust from rotor

I know as soon as I get my BBK on my G, the pads will get off all the rust. But the person that I am wants to remove it before I have this kit installed. That being said what kind of grit sandpaper do you guys recommend to get it off & make a nice smooth surface on it. BTW this is slotted & cross drilled rotora 14.2 " rotors...thanks.

If you did manage to remove the rust using that method, how would you prevent the rust from coming back?!?!?

exactly, plus why risk sanding the rotor? just leave it as it is and have it installed.

I know that info already... I went to pep boys today and hit it with 600 grit, then 800 grit, & finished it off with 1000 grit... Came out like brand new... I just had some free time & wanted it to look clean sit so when I get my custom powdercoated calipers installed on saturda, it will look as crisp as the calipers. thanks for the input though.
