Tien springs ruin shocks?

Is this true? I see alot of people not getting the whole coilover setup, but just springs. How safe is doing this? I want to drop my car a little but not have to invest over a G for coilovers. Does anyone suggest doing this? Anyone who has just the springs have many problems?

Lowering springs will give you the drop, but from what I understand they'll also dramatically reduce the life of your damper because the spring and damper aren't matched. The OE damper won't be designed for the frequency of oscillation it'll see with the lowering springs (shorter travel).

Most people who get Tein Springs (or any other springs) end up getting Tokico D Spec shocks in the near future. The D Specs are adjustable so you can make them stiffer or softer depending on how you want it. Those will run you about $550 for all four.

So thats $550 for the shocks and $150 for the springs.
