Do you have any contact info at Tokico - I'm in the same boat? How have they treated you?

I used my installer to get everything done so I have not really dealt with Tokico. The installer I used does tons of Gs and Zs so they are well connected, where Tokico is local here and he is able to deal with them directly. I was warned that it could take awhile for the warrenty service to come back.

I too am getting this rattle sound from the passenger rear. So far I only went as far as taking off the wheel to inspect the noise. This weekend I plan to uninstall the spring and shock and then re-install. I'm hoping its something I may not have torqued properly.

Pop the hood and bounce the car (push down hard repeatedly on the fender by the top strut mount. The popping could be the strut bolt. If you see the strut threaded rod extending, tighten the bolt and use a lock bolt to secure the original. If this is not the issue, tighten the sway end links very tight. If this is not it, tighten the sway bar brackets securing it to the frame. If this is not it, sell the car. J/K.

I have had all three cause noises. I'm dangerous with tools!

I have the dsp-9 and have some rattles too on the rears. I thought it was my extensions that is rubbing the metal. But after taking everything back out and made more clearance the rattle is still there. So I just left it and soon after 2-3 weeks of driving on messed up roads, it dissappear.
I was thinking that it needs to break-in, clearing all the air pockets?

I did my install myself so was paranoid I screwed up a ball joint or something. I took the whole thing apart and re-installed. I did not take the spring off the shock though, but everything appeared normal. No improvement. I had my car in recently for brakes and had the dealer check everything. They couldn't find anything, and thought it might even be my windshield replacement - clueless dealer strikes again. My rattle came right after my spring/shock install, so there is no way its the endlink. I did later install a Stillen sway with no change to the knock. Which D-Spec are you guys running? I am using the sedan shock with 03 Z spings, so I'm thinking that's the issue. During the install, I was concerned about how much to tighten the top shock nut, which compresses the spring. I tightened the nut as far as it would go, thinking it would be necessary since the spring is shorter than the sedan spring the shock was designed for. I wonder if washers are necessary to further compress the spring even more? I wouldn't think so though since the spring seemed sufficiently tight. Or maybe back off the nut, to uncompress the spring a bit? I may do some trial an error at some point, but I just got an allignment and don't want to screw it up, and I'm moving on to some bigger mods, so the knock may have to wait. I was going to contact Tokico as well. Seems odd we all have it in the front left, maybe just a case of that's where we hear it since that's where we sit. I'll pm Gsedan35, maybe he has some idea. Between all of us, maybe we can figure it out, because it has taken some of the joy out of this mod.
I experience a similiar problem with my dsp-7s. I hear a knocking sound coming from the rear passenger side. when driving over bumps at slow speeds. I took it to the local dealership and they said the sound is due to my exhaust (greddy evo2) making contact with the under body brace. I don't think thats the problem.

I purchased these shocks in january of this year from jdmwerks13 on ebay. I don't know if they're covered under warranty.

I bought mine from the same guy - I sure hope they aren't remanufactured. I plan on calling them and Tokico but haven't had a chance. They should be covered assuming you can talk them into the fact that something is broke.

just an update on my rear suspension setup. I took off my rear dspecs and re-installed them. one thing that I did differently this time was that I torqued the bottom bolt on the shock while I had a jack underneath compressing it. after I did that I reinstalled the wheels and dropped the car. during my test drive I didn't hear a thing. car rides very smooth and quiet now.

I checked the lower shock mount on the driver's side rear today and it appeared to be fine. I also removed and took apart the shock and reinstalled it and re-torqued the bottom bolt with a jack underneath as spdzone did. I still get clunking noises.

Also, I noticed that my driver's side rear sits lower than the passenger side. Could the spring be causing the noise? My buddy thinks that might be it.

driver side lower than right? that's a strange one. perhaps your springs are upside down? I know it's a probably stupid question but I had to ask. It happens sometimes. I did it once when I use to work on my civics.....

you're located in Elk Grove right? I'd like to check out your car to see what's going on with it. If you have time PM me.
