You'll be fine on your oem shocks since having oem 19's on your 06 confirms you actually have the sport suspension on your coupe. Though I would trim the bump stops a bit front and rear. Now that is not to say that you will not get your monies worth with D-specs, they are a really good shock and represent a pretty good upgrade even against your sport shocks, just can't say with your spring choice that their is any driving need to ditch the oem shocks.

Sry to jack the thread a bit, but what does trimming the bump stops do?

I have come to the same conclusion. My Z Tein H-Techs should arrive sometime this coming week. I decided not to spend the monies for the D-Spec 9's at this time, since I am riding on the sports tuned suspension oem shocks. My only regret is that I will need to get back to front shock/spring set-up again at a later date.

When you lower the car you reduce the shocks piston stoke distance or bump travel. Trimming a little bit off the soft rubber insert inside the dust cover's where they are located isn't a bad idea. What your doing is improving the odds your going to avoid any secondary issues associtated with bump stops touching all the time and effecting ride and handling elements. The more the bumpstops do touch, the more that's a very bad thing. Though we do not want to trim too much.

My Z Tein H-Techs arrived this afternoon. The notes include detailed diagrams recommending cutting the bump stops.

Hey bringing this back to life. Did anyone actually cut the bump stops with the 350 Z H Techs. I didnt, because the picture diagram showed and bigger bump stop and the G35 with the spoty suspension bump stop already looked really small, so i decided not to touch it. What have you guys done.

I dont know if you want a suggestion. I did some research and found that most people with H techs for the Z have not cut the bump stops. I also didnt, and wasnt sure if I had made the right move, but after searching, I noticed most people havent. You will love the H techs.

i have a coupe with sport suspension and switched out the springs for htechs a few months back, also added stillen sways and front and rear gt spec bars, ride is great. Only thing is now i think i got used to it and everything feels soft again. It might be just me getting too used to the suspension OR the shocks are going. so ill b getting dpecs or coilovers pretty soon to see if it fixes this.
