Replacement pad for stock pads

Hey guys,

My brake pad warranty ran out on my 03 G35 AT. So I'd like to try different pads next time I need pads. The stock pads kick out a ton of dust on my front wheels and I get squealing from time to time.

Any recommendations on a pad that
a. won't kick out a ton of brake dust
b. minimal squealing
c. won't overly wear out my rotors (I don't track the car)

This is for stock non-brembo brakes.

Thanks,

Les

I don't know but I'm in the same boat. My pads had to be replaced at 15k miles and now again at 30k miles. I drive 4 miles each way to work. That's rediculous if you ask me, how fast they wear out that is.

I was thinking about getting some ceramic pads. I know nothin about brakes, diff. makes, quality etc...

I put on Satisfied Pro Ceramic pads from Tire Rack about 8k ago & break dust is minimal with no squell at all. Will see how they wear, but thought $38 an axle was good price. My bike was $75. an axle if that is a comparasion?

There is a ton of threads like this...

people mainly use project mu pads and hawk hps pads

I use hawk hps with brembo setup and i like the performance and price of them.

BTW, no brake dust from the hawk hps

Rotor wear

I'm assuming they make the hawk and project mu pads for non-brembo...my next question would have to be, are those pads rougher on the rotors than the stock pads?

Thanks,

Les

Gotta be careful as for optimum service the rotor hardness and pad softness much match at all temperature ranges. Soft rotors and soft pads are the quietest.........any life extension will always gave a downside.

Everything G35

They have the Hawk HPS fronts $82 and rear $75.

Is that about what you guys have been paying (of course standard not Brembos).

Thanks,

Les

Do a search, but many posts I've seen mention Hawk HPS pads which are pretty affordable (under $100). Project Mu is another option, but do a search on them as there are several reviews on their pads. You can also opt for the S-tune pads from Nismo, but I suspect that they are more for track use than street (from description). I went with Endless Super Sports-S (~$360 for a set) which combine street sensibility with some track type performance. FYI, Endless are harder to find and are more expensive. I've heard good things about Endless Vita Nuova pads (under $300) which are cheaper and geared towards street use that meets all of your requirements.

Good Luck

Within a narrow range all pad compositions cost the same [+- a few dollars] to manufacture. Just a very high profit item when you have low volume and lots of positive exotic foreign heritage hype.
Remember the dealer markup on parts is 100%.

Places [franchises] that sell $99 friction relines buy pads for $10-$12 per axle.
