Nothing too special. Make sure you have a breaker bar and maybe even a pipe to go over your breaker bar. The bolts holding the OE caliper to the spindle are torqued at around 110 lbs/ft. You'll want a good torque wrench for sure and also some flare nut wrenches for the brake lines and caliper fittings. You'll also need a certain size allen wrench to undo and redo the caliper bridge bolt.

Darren,

Awesome setup. I'm surprised to see that little of a clearance on your 5Zigens. I saw pictures of 6-pot Wilwood fronts on stock sedan wheels. 6-pot must be narrower than 4-pot.

In regards to brake bias, I wonder if EBD which our cars are equipped with can accomodate for bias changes. Any thoughts on that?

Andrew,

Thanks. The 6-pot calipers are actually wider than the 4-pots so maybe you saw 18" stock sedan wheels? Because my wheels are 17". There is no way the stock 17 x 7 +45 sedan wheels would clear these brakes. As for the brake bias and EBD that is a good question that only someone a lot more technical and knowledgable than I could answer. Interesting thing though is that I read this article in Sport Compact Car not too long ago. They had a project Scion Tc they were working on and were doing a brake upgrade. They did all this work to try to maintain the correct bias but at the end of the article they said it didn't matter since the electronic brake management on that vehicle would just override and accomodate for bias changes. Could it be the same for us?

If you're worried about flats then either have a can or two of the fix-a-flat stuff or get a wheel that will fit over the bbk as your spare. That's what I'm planning on doing when I decide to upgrade my rears to the RacingBrake OE Caliper Rear kit. Are you planning on getting a 4 corner kit?
I wonder if my Pirelli 235/50 17s will mount on the 17X8s? Since it looks like I must buy new wheels to fit over the BBK, the $2500 lawsuit money will need to pay for 4 new wheels and the Arizona front wilwoods. There will be no money left over for the rears.

I called up Discount Tire and am told my Pirelli 235/50 ZR17 tires will indeed fit the 17X8 5Zigen FN01R-C wheels! Oh boy.... I'm planning on purchasing four of these 17X8 +43 offset wheels so that I can fit the Arizona BBK on my 2003 sedan. Can't wait for the settlement money to arrive!

Yeah, 235/50/17 will fit nicely over 8" wide rims. The range of wheel widths for that size tire is 6.5-8.5" but the recommended is 7.5". So 8" is perfectly fine. I plan on getting 235/50/17 Eagle F1 GS-D3 after my current tires run out. So you're $2500 will cover what you plan on doing. $1425 shipped for 6-pot AZ Wilwood front kit + $800 for the FN01R-Cs and you'll still have enough left over to mount and balance your tires and maybe even to have the BBK installed if you don't do it yourself.

Did you read my post or even the title of the thread at all? It says Front BBK Installed. So no, I did not lose my parking brake cause I never did the rears.

My wheels are 5Zigen FN01R-C. Cost $200 each from Discount Tire Direct. Only weighs 17 lbs per wheel which is lighter than the OEM sedan wheels by about 4 or 5 lbs.

Silver Wheel
Flat Black Wheel
Gloss Black Wheel

Only the 4-pot caliper will fit the wheel in my size. The 6-pot caliper won't. If you order these same wheels I'd suggest you get 17x8 +35 offset which are the ones I've linked above. Those will definitely clear the 6 or 4 pot caliper.
I contacted Discount Tire and got a quote on the wheels. The sales guy told me the 17X8s weigh 19 lbs each. I'm gonna buy them anyways. My Pirelli 235/50 ZR17 will indeed fit these bad boys, so I will save myself the cost of 4 new tires.

Very nice. Well according to 5Zigen's own website they list 16-18 lbs. Even if they are 19 lbs. they are still lighter than your current OEM wheels and they are wider too. You'll love those wheels for sure. So which brake kit are you going to go with? I'm assuming the 6-pot.
