Dealer tried to screw me.

I know these stories aren't a big surprise, but come on, I'd expect more from Winner Infiniti and Porsche of Newark, Delaware. I went in for a warranty issue and they told me that I needed new brakes all around and my front rotors needed replacing all for only $700. I told them thanks for the info and I'll do it myself. Went and got pads and front rotors without checking, went to install and low and behold, I've got 6mm left on my front and about the same on my rears. They told me I only had 2mm on front and 3mm on rears.

I hate them . Letter is in the mail .

At anyrate, how do I know if my rotors are bad? I don't know how to inspect them. Any tips out there?

Thanks - and don't forget to give any dealer you see on the road the finger as you drive by.

You need a micrometer to measure the thickness and/or a depth gauge if they are badly scored.

just look at your rotor. if you see really deep gouges in the rotor and also when you drag your finger nail from the iside of the rotor to the outside you catch a lot of inperfections... you know you need new rotors. Also you will be able to tell how much of it you wore out. Just look at the top of the rotor edge see if you are developing a little lip from the pad.

The Infiniti dealers are famous for misinformation about the brake wear. All they want is money. Funny how when you ask for a brake inspection, they will say they are just fine. but on your next visit, they say you need pads and rotors all around! I hate them... Plan on a front BBK very soon.
