Lease offer - Passport Infiniti

This deal seems high to me -

While not the same car, I just (last week) leased a G35X with Premium Package C and negotiated price of around $34K (MSRP was $37450 and sales price was $34092). For a 36 month lease, no money down, no trade, with sales taxes up front, a 57% residual, no document fee (another way the bank/dealer gets additional fees) with 15K miles a year for $426/mo in NY. I even got a quote on the same car for 39 months and it was $413/mo

A question for you - What is money factor (interest rate) the dealer used to calculate your lease?

I'm not sure if there are dealer incentives in VA (lots here in NY), but I think you can get a better deal.

The out the door price is the invoice price for that car. The MSRP is higher. The only thing that can change is MF unless he botched some stuff. The only thing I see off is the taxes....

Follow up - lease

I ran your figures - Im a CPA in NY and its almost impossible to turn that off - the numbers do jive - but I think you can get a better deal - how's your credit? Infiniti has had some deals through their financing arm of the company and they were offering in the 1.95% to 3.95%

I'm not trying to kill your deal - just think that the dealer may be trying to take advantage of you - I've been leasing autos since 1990 and if you don't watch, they will take you to the cleaners.

452/month.... But out the door price and everything else was totally different...

bottom line - you want to make sure you are getting all the as much of the incentives as possible passed through to you - not just the dealer

check out www.edmunds.com and research the car - they have a quick link to incentives and rebates. I'm sure there is something that can drop the price further, including using Infiniti Motors financing.

Hope this helped

I don't have any car credit. But I Do have perfect credit for everything else and I"m a college grad. What can I say to them to get a better finance deal???? What about if I pay the doc fee and title/license/reg fee upfront on top of the down payment. That shouldnt be included in the gross cap cost should it??? Also, the only thing you reckon that should be changed is the mf....the out the door price is solid, MF is only thing annoying at this point??

If you need to establish credit - then you probably cant get the infiniti motors rate - but lets see - the up front stuff including the first payment (2076.34+490.06=2566.40) which is about = to your downpayment before trade. Those costs are not part of the cap cost (Sales price) What dealer incentives are they throwing in?

Also check www.kbb.com for a comparasion of MSRP and Invoice prices other than that - that's all I got - good luck

Called the Finance guy up again...I was talking to some friends and looking online...the Dealership was including my first month payment in my down payment which is a big no no. In addition, that ****in document fee and Title/License/reg fee I am going to pay upfront on top of the down payment, I rather not have that factored in the Gross Cap Cost, no reason to have that taxed.

New Monthly is 465/month instead of 490/month 25 bucks is 25 bucks more for other things

See? Looked like the advice helped a bit - now just try and play a couple of dealers against each other and you may get a few more $$$ off the price - I still feel there may be more wiggle room for the dealer to come down.

When you do get the car - enjoy - its a really great ride!

Residual is 56% 21884.80

39 Months

Are we saying the car will depreciate by 55% in a little over three years.

That seems a bit much or am I off on this one. If that is the case maybe I should have leased instead of purchased.

I drive less than 15k per year and flip cars every four years

As soon as you drive off the lot, it drops a few Gs immediately....Unless you're making the Big Big Gs (movie star style) in the millions/year then financing a car is rough on the wallet

btw, thats only an estimated depreciation rate by the manufacturer/bank....the G's get really good resale value so you never know....

The depreciate rate is actually 44%, the residual is amount they expect the value of car to be when lease is up.
