I've been pricing around the Houston area for a 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT with Premium, Nav and XM. The best OTD price I got so far from 4 different dealerships is $40,500. The invoice is $36,116 according to edmunds and kbb. What do y'all think? TIA.

If you want ppl to reply to your question? please include your sales tax rate and DMV fees, as we all have different rate and fees.

Since I really have no idea what all the specific fees are, I just used the 10% rule of thumb. It came out to be around $745 over invoice. I forgot to mention that the vehicle have to be ordered since there isn't one in stock within or anywhere close to Texas.

If its 745 over invoice? then it isnt really a "good" deal per se, if thats what you looking for, as quite of few ppl on here have gotten 2~500 over invoice last couple of months, and one have just gotten 3800 off MSRP

The thing that throws me off is that people are getting around $200 to $500 over invoice but never mention their OTD price. Or maybe I just haven't researched enough? I also read somewhere that there's a "dealer fee" that gets added to the OTD price. It's suppose to vary from $200 to $750. Can anyone confirm this? So we can't really say that the people who got the $200 to $500 over invoice had a good deal until we know their "dealer fee" and of course their OTD price.

There should be no dealer's fees other than very samll amount of Doc/paper work fee and it should be around 45 bucks and here in Cali we have an tire fee of 8 dallors if I remembered right, if you lease there is acquisition fee and fee when you trun the car in, in the lease end.

You can not really judge an good deal by OTD price either, because the sale's tax and registration fees are veries from State to State, and those difference can be as much as 1500 or more in OTD price...That 10 percent rule you mentioned before? it apply to only very few states, for States that have 8.5% or higher tax rate and have about 1 percent for DMV fee, like here in Cali, but even in the same State, they are not always paying the same fee either, like in S.F.bay area, we are paying 8.75% but in other counties up North, they still paying around 7.5% and thats 437 dollars difference if the selling price is 35k...Judge an deal by its invoice would be better and somewhat uniform way to gauge, since invoice price dont change form region to region, or dealer to dealer.

To really gauge an "good" deal or not? there are other things to consider besides just from invoice price and OTD price, you would have to factor in trade-ins and interest rates as well, whenever I see a great deal or deals thats kinda out of ordinary? I always have lil bit of reservation about them, and usually will ask them if they have trade-ins and about their interest rates, or if they "konw" someone in that dealership.

Texas' sales tax is 6.25%. I don't know about the rest of the fees. There will be no trade in and I will not be financing with the dealership. So I guess I should try to guesstimate a good OTD price by using 8%?

Base on your sale's tax rate, the selling price probably is around 37750 which is about 1600 over invoice, that price is way too high for today's market conditions. From looks of it, this is might be your first purchase, so rather than guess, why not just call dealerships ask them about the fees and go from there...even the DMV fees could be wildly different from State to State, so that 8 percent might not be good way to judge either...

$1,500 over invoice sounds about right. I guess I still need to put these dealers to work on lowering it at least $1,000. Thanks for your help!
