Nice deal on the car man! I just got mine ($500 over invoice Infiniti of Tustin) on Friday and I've been in heaven since. In fact, I feel like taking her out for a spin right now...

Told me about 3 to 4 months, it actually came sooner. 2 1/2 months.

Pricing, go in and negotiate X amount over invoice first w/o specifying exactly what you want... then simply bring out what the 'accepted' invoice price is (off edmunds/cars.com) of a bone stock and order at the rate you want.

John what state/city are you located? ie - my brother went through a third party broker who WILL find you the exact car that you want. No hasseling, bottom line pricing. I would recommend you finding one but if you're in the Los Angeles area, I'll give you the name of our broker.

I just got mine this past Wed. ordered on the 20th of March and got it May 31. Dealer told me originally it would be 90 days but got it in less. The price was the same that I negotiated when placing the order.

yep, unfortuantely im from new york. but i thought the dealers can search all other infiniti dealers for the car i want. which seems like the same thing. (except the dealer may want a deposit or something).

but since it seems like it will take months to order, i think im just gonna settle for one that has maybe a sunroof or RAS (don't want RAS. sunroof is ok, but $$$ is an issue). there is probably very few of them, but i might get lucky.

im gonna go to 3 dealers near me (Long island). and hopefully one of them will have something, and im gonna take the advice of some of the members here and ask them to search the whole country for the car (do they really do that?).

i am about to head out in a few hours, when i get back i'll let you guys know how it went.

There if no factory ordering per se, like the BMW european delivery option. You still have to go through the dealership, the only difference is the car is built to your specs. The time it takes for you to get your car depends on a number of factors. Usually each dealer has a certain allocation every month, and if your dealers allocation for the month has already been built, or is almost built then it will take longer for you get your car. If there is a car that is already coming to your dealer and is in the beginning stages of the build process, i.e. options can be easily changed, then you would get the car earlier. Usual delivery time is 8 weeks, mine took 9 weeks. I ordered my car and negotiated my prices ( 700 over invoice ) back in september 2005 ( the 2006 models hadnt even hit the country yet ). So the pricing is not really affected, its all dependent on your neotiating skills. Another advantage is you can avoid the dealer drilling plates, or sticking dealership stickers on your car when you order your car, just make sure that they know ahead of time ( I made my dealer sign a paper saying he wouldnt add plates, stickers or any pin striping etc. ) Also if you are getting the spoiler, getting it from the factory ensures a real nissan part whereas most times when you are adding it at the dealer they give you a knock-off and you dont have the third brake light. Most dealers rarely order cars with the aero package, rather prefer to add it themselevs if the customer needs it, so that is something to remember.

Mostly yes, but if the dealers are in the same city competing for business they wont swap cars, like in Houston.

I ordered mine Saturday Feb. 25th, order wasn't placed unitl later that week, today is day 100 of waiting. Latest update is the car is IT (in transit) and expected to be delivered to the dealer the week of June 15th. Of course I will be in Cozumel Mexico that week so my car will sit at the dealership waiting for me. I put $1,000. down and have not done any paperwork yet. The negotiated price is $100.over invoice and I have an e-mail from the dealership stating such. We did a search three different times to locate exactly what I wanted and came up empty handed so I chose to order. I previously ordered two cars from different manufacturers and the wait was about 3 months each time also. They were Lincoln Mercury products. I prefer ordering to make sure I get the exact set-up I want, also no-one has driven the car but me. The only downfall is of course the wait, you find yourself stalking car transport trucks on the freeway! You definately have to be patient if you order. Good luck.
