Come on guys get off the Honda deal already. 2 cars ago my EG hatch (92 civic) was at the end of the 1320 at 11.70. It was FI, but all stock B16 with just CTR (civic type r) cams. Full-Race owns. 1 car ago my 2002 AP1 (S2000
) was at the end of the 1320 at 13.70'S with just an intake. Honda's arent bad cars at all for the money. They have ALOT of potential and way to many companies to back them up. One day I'll boost the G, then blow it up, then build it and I'm sure it'll be one hell of a BEAST.

In the 04 G35, the last 1k rpm before redline is nothing exciting but there's still decent power up there. I've got a popcharger so it sounds deceptively fast near redline, but in reality, it feels like it's just running out of breath and about to explode.
I'll admit, I do sometimes wish we had a cam lifting mechanism like Vtec on our V6's. I hope the next gen VQ with a redline of 7500+ will remedy the VQ's lack of topend punch.

True, after 80mph you can minimize the gap with STI, to be more exact after 100-110 mph... slowly....but the still gap exist.....unless u continue driving for 30 secs+ on top speed...no way u can catch up...

I love hondas...they're what 1st got me into import cars with "little" technological feats, such as VTEC. Nissan and Honda are great companies in they're own rights. But its a little difficult to compare fwd and rwd vehicles, IMO. Some, if not most, have different driving abilities.
With the case of the the Accord and The G, performance-wise, the G has the edge. The Accord isn't slow, but its not as quick as the G. As for the top end, I have an 05 6mt and you can really "feel" the whole powerband if you ride as a passenger. Just get a GOOD friend(notice I said GOOD because I wouldn't trust just anybody to drive my baby, hahaha)to drive your car and feel the true performance of your car, from idle to redline. You'll be surprised as to how good our topend is above 5k rpm's.
And, as for the necessity of low-end torque...have you seen how much our cars weigh stock??!!...haha...it kinda is a NECESSITY, if you ask me, if you want to have a decent launch off the line. Try launching our cars with the torque of stock Acura RSX-S motor. Thats not a weak engine, but as some people have stated before,Weight to Power Ratio is definitely a factor.
So yeah, the G will edge out the Accord V6..haha..although, I think each car is in a different class.
P.S.-I wouldn't exactly consider the G an "econobox" with most owners averaging 20 to 23 mpg highway. Now, if we were getting upper 20's like 28-29, that would be more like it..performance with economy
