I was wondering about the long-term reliability of the 2003 G35 coupe. The one I saw at the dealer has about 41k. The car ran great on the testdrive, but I was wondering if many people ran into large problems with the car after driving it 50k or more. Smaller problems are ok, because, well, the car is worth it. I read in consumer reports that the reliability is pretty good but they don't get very specific.

Major complaints you're likely to hear about:
5AT (standard) brakes are soft and wear very fast (<10-15K miles)
6MT (Brembo) brakes are better but still can wear fast (depending on how hard you hit it)
Window motors fail
Bose CD changer jams

Welcome. Try searching for your topic it has been discussed frequently.
You can also look at
http://www.infinitihelp.com/Infiniti...escription.htm
it shows all of the TSB's for the different years and most of them should be taken care of under warranty.
Good luck.

I have 53,000 miles on my 2003 G35 AT Coupe and I haven't had one single issue at all. My G is my daily driver too

only things i've ever done to my car is normal maintenance - oil (synth), fluids, washing, waxing, etc. also changed brake pads just recently at about 31k miles and replaced tires at about 25-26k.
i bit the bullet and took it in for 30k mile maintenance at the local infin dealer, and i get about 1.5mpg better gas mileage than before. yay!
be careful with whatever horror stories you may read on the boards. although they are all valid, they are the MINORITY. if everybody who owned a problem-free G35 posted raves on the board, we would have about 2359087235432454764375373783243589999 posts. the VQ is a great engine!

Overall the car is pretty reliable; it won't ever leave you on the side of the road. The same sets of common problems seem to plague all years. My fuel gage was reading incorrectly and my driver side window motor was acting up. Both fixed under warranty. Most people can't tell the difference between the 2003 and 2006 which gets you a lot of "wow new car?" Front brakes were replaced around 15k miles and I am still on the same rear brakes at 40k miles, I expect to replace them soon.
Thanks for the feedback. Almost 100% sure I'll be driving the G35 this time tomorrow. I don't think I can pass it up.

yup, 60,000 miles and still ticking. only thing wrong with it was fuel gauge meter was off and passender window was losing it (both fixed under warranty) other than that it's a thing a beauty you can depend on.

make sure you have like 10 window motors available...they're gonna fail that many times..
