He seems to be selling this car to you for $100 above invoice, at nearly the best rate Infiniti is currently offering.

I would do it.

Note: Numbers below assume (per your post) that $530 payment is pretax, and you are paying the acquisition fee upfront

Term: 27 Months
MSRP: $48,500
Cap Cost: $44,500

Residual: 65%
Money Factor: .00065 or 1.56% interest on depreciation

Payment: $529.97

Thanks for the input... I am gonna take it that I am getting a good deal and should pull the trigger on this one.
Also, are you aware of any NJ taxes?
The dealer mentioned that there is an additional tax if the car is above $45000... is this true? or is the dealer just talking through his (_o_)

No idea on NJ taxes. Google is your friend.

It is certainly plausible that there is a luxury tax of some sort.

Get him to put the selling price in writing. My calculations indicate that it should be just below 45K, making point moot

Ya I am going to ask for more detailed numbers .... but i checked the tax updates and did find that NJ levies a 'new' tax for cars above $45K or if they give below 19 mpg. Its not a lot 0.4% of the sale price or if on a lease than the total amount paid for the months on the lease.

Nonetheless, these damn taxes and fees are adding up to quite a bit!

I lease a car in the city of Chicago, which I do believe, is the worst place in the entire nation to lease a car, from a tax perspective.

My county taxes 9%, based on the entire amount of the car. So for a lease on my $37,000 G, I had to pay $3300 additional cap cost.

As if that wasn't enough, my crooked Mayor then levies another 6% on my monthly payment.

So when all is said and done, I pay $180 PER MONTH IN TAX.

OMG ... that unreal... those many taxes just takes the 'bargain' out of any deal!

Anyhow... wanted to share with you that I pulled the trigger... got myself the m35x with Tech package... however the dealer wouldnt go down on the monthly payment... but threw in the sirius radio and spoiler for the same amount of payments.

Thanks for your help buddy!

You got a very good deal. Congratulations. I took a good look at the M35x, and just loved the interior. If I had kids, that's what I would have gotten (for the larger interior). That front cabin is just so roomy
