Any trade-ins involved? Higher % financing?

That sounds like a good deal Cheryl, was that through Infiniti? I'm thinking about leasing my next car, if I ever get one, LOL!

Yep that was through IFS. I have had one little problem though since then but they are trying to get it cleared up - the statement I received for my first payment was a few dollars different from my papers I signed. The taxes in the county I bought the car from are different from the taxes in the county we LIVE in so IFS is freaking out or something. LOL

Hmmm, I'll have to find out if I can be immune to those taxes as well, and how it would affect my free license plate..............Not that I'm going to be doing it any time soon!

I would assume that you would be. It is just the sales tax on the car like you would pay all at once if you were doing a purchase or finance. It shouldn't be any different than any other method of purchase in regard to the taxes and tags, etc that you get. Oh come on, bite the bullet and get a new car.

LOL, I have to "heal" a little from this house purchase before that happens! I am still enjoying my '05! Did you lease your '04 as well?

To me, the one thing about a lease is, especially with the 0 down, makes it easier to change cars every few years, compared to financing, and with 15k a year, it would make sense since I drive less than that.

We just had a very bad experience the only other time we leased and I hate having to worry about the mileage, mods, etc. but I'm dealing. I would have had a killer payment on a purchase and that would have been much worse. lol

Well, at least you have lower real estate prices to offset the car payments!

For some reason I was expecting the lease payments to be lower, but thanks for all the input. I guess for a mid to high $30k car all payments sound reasonable.

Wow $587 a month. Thats waaaay too much. I 've read of $410 for 36 months in other posts. I pay < $400 for a $40k Nissan and $300 for a < $30k VW.

It all depends on how many miles are included right. And how much you can afford.

I think my payment is like 810/month on my finance.

That all plays a role. This is how its broken down:

1. Sticker Price of the car + options $23,000
2. Times the residual value percentage X .57%
3. Equals the residual value = $13,110
4. Invoice price of car minus incentives (net capitalized cost) $20,000
5. Minus the residual (From line 3) - $13,110
6. Equals the depreciation over 36 months = $ 6,890
7. Depreciation (Line 6) divided by term in months ÷ 36
8. Equals the monthly depreciation payment = $ 191.39
9. Net capitalized cost (From line 4) $20,000
10. Plus the residual (From line 3) + $13,110
11. Equals = $33,110
12. Times the money factor X .0037
13. Equals money factor payment portion = $ 122.50
14. Monthly depreciation payment (from line 8) $ 191.39
15. Plus money factor payment portion (from line 12) + $ 122.50
16. Equals bottom-line monthly lease payment = $ 313.89

But this is only the logic behind it. What i do is find the lowest payment I've seen is online (like in this forum), then i contact a dealer and ask him if he can beat that payment. That has usually worked for me.
