if that would have happened I would post "Screw you guys I'm going to Aston Martin forum" thread.

So far no luck.

Hope tonight all that is going to change.

Gather all your paperwork: purchase contract, payment statements, bank statements etc. go into the bank and ask to see a loan officer, or manager. Explain that you have NOT payed off this loan and show them the letter, returned check and other information. They should be able to reconcile your account right then and see that your account has not had a 20k deposit or check written to justify the paid loan. Be sure to tell them this HAS to be settled before you leave and you are not paying any late fees due to this error, this is getting out of hand and your credit WILL take a hit if it goes on too long.

at this point this advice seems best. Every month send in your payment. You'll get a letter back saying its paid already, as you have. This will record that every month you attempted to maintain your contractual obligation (the car loan payment).

take pantablo's advice... (not G-ticket's ha)
reading through the posts almost seems like people are upset you had this happen to you. If its the bank's mistake, its just that, the bank's mistake. I am almost certain you will not have to pay for the bank's mistake. We all know if they tried to make you pay in any way, you did what you were supposed to. going to the bank and demanding to make them reinstate your loan is ludicrous. so saying you will take a hit on your credit is also bogus.
anyways, i hope it works out in your favor! even if it doesnt atleast you know you took precautions. haters hate

I felt that way as well but I decided to ignore it. It's not my fault and im doing everything I can to resolve this mistake. Im not trying to rip the bank off as some poeple feel (even tho I want to. Its not like they care when they make a mistake in thier favor off my account ). Im doing the "right" thing. As of now I am continuing my payments which well be sent back. This will show a history of attempted payments. Until then the G is considered mines!

gr8one, nothing you can do here. This forum has the most selfrighteous people in the world. God forbid you get a ticket and mentioned here, they will bash you to the ground. Like this people would go to bank and spend all that time to solve a problem that the bank thinks is paid off.
I agree with the other post, you should keep paying every month and i would suggest to you to put that money somewhere, so you do not spend it. Later you can make a lump sum payment when bank realise their mistake.

If you are old enough to buy a car than you are old enough to make your own decisions. I wish you luck. You might want to read the thread in the 350Z Forum about the kid who got the payoff letter for his truck and the next day had it repossessed from his front yard.

Did you ever requested a payment history?

That would be kind of interesting to see if somebody maybe did paid off your car.

He tried four times, and he said he has no problems with paying off the car when they realize their mistake. I don't see how this can affect his credit without him filing a huge lawsuit which will most likely end with a huge settlement for him?
