Negotiating help on 07 G35 Sedan?
Negotiating help on 07 G35 Sedan?
I got a dealer to go down from $37,665 for a black/black 07 g35 sport sedan with nav/prem pkg. to $36,250 before taxes and all through a couple emails, no really hard bargaining yet. I have no clue on how to bargain. The car does have 300 miles on it though. They also have another new 07, same as this one, but with technology pkg. for $38,915.
Seeing as I'm in Washington with a high tax rate, I'd like to get it as low as I can. Any tips would be appreciated.

also try eloans or capital one loans online. You might get a better rate. I got 6.25% off of Capital one - good credit.
As for the deal on the car...try and negotiate a little more. Maybe ask for them to throw in free wheel locks...also try and get them to give you the road hazzard warranty on the tires and wheels ($800) value.
I would also by a nose guard or get that 3mclear bra - unless you want rock chips all over the front end.

Eloans 10% so I declined, Capital One 7.25% on $32,500 for 5 years. I applied for $30,000 thinking I was going to get a ~ $25,000 car. Does getting pre-approved with Infiniti help me with negotiations? For what I want to pay a month I'd have to get a 6 or 7 year loan on something this high.
Yup, not only is the tax crazy high (although I thought Kirkland was 9.3%, and Fife is 9.1%), but the dealers are notorious for not selling much below MSRP.
I was only able to get the Fife dealer to $1000 over invoice ($35,400) on a 07 G35 Journey with Prem, Nav, and Tire/Wheel packages. And that was after extensive negotiations. I thought I was being generous with my offer of $35,200 but they won't budge. Kirkland didn't even want to quote me below MSRP. The fact is, they know they don't have much competition and they sell a lot fewer cars so they need more profit per car.
At this point, I'll either be shopping a CA dealer or waiting for the '08s.
treacherous: I might have to pick your brain a bit since I've never purchased a car out of state

Without a 72 month note I don't see how you're going to get a loaded G with 0 down to under $600 a month.
600*60 months = $36,000
600*72 months = $43,200
Assuming by some miracle you negotiate down to $35,000. Taxes alone at 8.7% is $3,045 plus ~500 in fees etc and you're looking at $38,545 as an OTD price. To get the price below $600/mon you have to get ~3.8% for 72 months which I've never seen exceed the 60/mon mark and then only on very slow selling models at the very end of the year.
Considering you're only approved to $650/mon I don't know if you need to be buying a car w/ that many options. I was pre-approved by all the banks and Infiniti for at least double what you're approved for and that was before my 20% raise. That said, I still put 30% down and my $400/mon payment still sucks given there's still $500/ded insurance and ad valorem taxes over $400/year.
I realize you're probably going to buy b/c you've got your heart set on one but 0 down on 72 months is ridiculously bad given you will be chasing the depreciation all the way down. If something comes up and you have to sell at any point in the next 6 years, you'll be thousands in the hole. They'll also likely force you to buy gap insurance.
Consider leasing a stripped model or putting some money in the down b/c it sounds like you're stretching a bit. Either that or wait a year and buy a used one w/ some money you saved up.

^I'm a dreamer! lol. I can put money down, I just like to get the best deal. The dealer offered $36,250 before taxes and I told him if he gets it under $37000 OTD I'll come take a look at it. He replied with "Sales tax and license is about $3,500, so $37,000 out the door would be a selling price of $33,500 and we would not be able to do that. You might find some useful information about recommended market values and our invoice price on edmunds.com and carsdirect.com. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to stop in to test drive."
I think I will look out of state as well.

Throw a number back at 'em that's a few hundred below invoice. If they don't counter with a better number, then say no thanks and walk. They may chase after you with a better number, they may not.
I don't know when the '08 sedans are arriving at dealer lots, but the closer we get to their arrival the more eager they'll be to bargain.
