G35 Sedan or 540i Sport
G35 Sedan or 540i Sport
Hi. I am currently in the market for either G35 Sedan or a 540i Sport. I have narrowed down my searched to these to cars. Now i know some of the positives and negatives in both cars but i need advise from both Bmw Guys and Infiniti Guys.
G35 - Positive
More reliable than 540i
Maintenance cost less than bmw.
Better fuel mileage than 540i
Less Expensive mods Or maybe more mods than 540i.
Negative- Doesnt handle like a Bmw.
BMW- Positive
Handles Better
More Power (STOCK vs STOCK)
Negative - Gas eater
High Maintenance cost
Now I need a feed back from you guys Before i make up my Mind.
Thanx

Hmmm...
Here are my thoughts:
1) I normally don't drive at 9/10, have never tracked my car, and usually am stuck in traffic. So I would view the handling of the G and the 540 as virtually identical under normal driving conditions. Both are going to be a blast if you can hit some twisties.
2) Both will be quick.
3) The G is very likely to be much, much more reliable and cheaper to maintain.
4) I probably wouldn't take a used BMW even it it were free. I've read (and known people with) many horror stories about BMW servicing needs and costs. To me, this would be a deal-breaker. I know that if I dropped a lot of coin on a car that gave me reliability issues, I'd quickly grow to loathe that vehicle. Others will probably disagree, but I just don't see an infinitesimal performance benefit in the 540 outweighing the more than likely maintenance costs.
5) If I'm going to treat myself to a nice car, I'm definitely not going to buy a used vehicle. For me, it would be difficult to envision dropping multiple tens of thousands of dollars on a used car.

I see it as Brand new G35 loaded is still way less than a 1 year old 540i. In this market that is game, set, and match.
Are you sure the BMW 540i handles "Much" better than the 08 G35? I would be surprised if that is the case. My 08 G35 handles much better than my 02 BMW 330i ever could have dreamed of. However, that was not the case with my 05 G35 I just traded.

I'd go with the G35. I was gonna get a 330i, but decided on G35 instead, purely because it ticks all the boxes, as well as being different.

Just sold my '03 540 for an '08 G35S
This morning I sold my '03 540 Sport, which was probably my all-time favorite car to date. The need to pinch my budget and the increasing occurrence of small service issues led me to jump ship. I will be taking delivery next week of an '08 G35S LP/Graphite. The screaming good lease deals Infiniti has going this month make it impossible to pass up if you're in the market for this car.
540 - rock solid build, fast, good looks, modern classic, high maintenance
bills if not CPO
G35 - sexy lines, faster than 540, lighter, newer, higher tech
I hated to give up my 540, but I'm really looking forward to the G. I was cross-shopping the 335, and I found it impossible to justify the price difference between the two because the G is just that good. Also, the G is way more tossable.
