Question for everyone! picking up an 06 g coupe

I'm looking into picking up an 06 g coupe, and selling my current car, while I love the car I have, it's just not enough for me anymore, plus I wanted to get something that was a little more mature.

Anyway! What I wanted to know is if any of you regret (in any way) getting/dont like something about your car...If you could change one thing about the car, what would it be? I already know how much everyone loves them, and I'm happy you do, so you dont have to say anything about that.

Also, have any of you had/heard of any problems with that partiuclar model year?

The car I'm looking at is black on black, 06 with 18,000 miles. they want 20,500 for it...I almost consider that a steal. Am I right? I think it's a decent price. My current car, while being an 08, costs me 300 a month, this one would be about 240.

I apologize if there's any kind of post like this before but the internet connection I'm currently on isn't fast enough to keep searching for things.

Thanks so much!!

I think that's a steal. I just got an 05 for 21k, but the miles are a lot higher.

I just got the car over the weekend. So far I love the car, a little on the heavy side and the seats are slow as hell if you have anybody sitting in the back... I was also looking at a used E46 M3, but the cost of maintenance tipped the scales.

Only problem is the oil consumption issue and the 06 headlights were recalled if i remember correctly.

That price is a steal... Is it a 6MT? Do you have the sevice records for the car? link? or pics?

The only thing i hate is the Gas milage...

Ya, my '06 6MT with 22k miles was $25k. But it was laser red so obviously thats where the difference is .

That price seems a bit low, I would make sure its not a rebuild or something, make sure and 1) get a Carfax report and check the title and 2) do a thorough inspection yourself, or if you know a mechanic bring him along to look at it.

Good luck.

I've already changed the things about my car that I don’t like:

Cats ear taillights, painted over them and made them FX-ish, IS350-ish

Polished aluminum window trim and door handles - painted them (twice) currently handles are body color (like they should be) and window trim is gunmetal

Door armrest and center armrest - 03-04 are plastic door and no padded vinyl center... having them wrapped in leather with latex padding...

That’s about it. Most other things I like... that’s not to say I haven’t (and wont) keep changing things... those are just the things that were a must for me.

Anyway, a little bit of a downer is that this G is an AT, so I might skip out on it and look for another car...my current car is an AT too but I only got it that way at the time because I had been in an accident and my right shoulder was really messed up. (it still is, but not as badly)

They posted a carfax so it's legit...but I think I'm going to keep looking. What exactly was wrong with the headlights in the 06s?

As for the rattles...eh, every car eventually gets them.

Thanks for your answers guys! Keep em coming!

I don't like the clock in the center of the dash, gas mileage and the transmisson.... but I still love my car and don't ever want to sell it. I accept her faults.

Don't wait too long. I was looking at an 05 black with 24k miles for 20,800. I checked back a month later, It got marked up to 24,900 Make sure if your going to buy it, buy it sooner rather than later before the dealer realizes what it's true value is.

If it's an 06 most of the stuff that you need to worry about should be covered under warranty (oil consumption, axle clicking, etc). The axle clicking and the brake screeching ticked me off on my 03 coupe. But I never regretted getting it. It's a great car!

PS: make sure you try out the AT transmission to see if there's any lag or delay in shifts.

GOOD LUCK with you purchase

It was something with the lights upper cut-off point. Guess it was blinding oncoming traffic or something like that. No biggie, mine got replaced per recall n/c. Really didn't notice a difference. Think FX's had this recall too.

Being you may still be considering a 5AT, I wouldn't worry so much about the OC issue. That's mainly with the 05-07 6mt's per current TSB. I know...have a 06 6mt with a new VQ long block b/c of that and was replaced under warranty....n/c.
