I just checked the vin and it comes up as an april of 2004 fx 35 white(QX1) with an auto trans 2wd.

 

well, at least the scammer got the color and model right .

OP, tell your buddy to stay away from this clown. This crap happens all the time, even when you try to sell your own car. I had a guy tell me that he would send me a check for the price of my car + $10k, all I had to do was send him my car and $10k back to him in Belgium. Ya, right!

 

typical case of the Nigerian Scam...you know..."I live in Nigeria and I can't move my money out of the US, send me a check for $10,000 and I'll give you double that for your troubles."
