How many miles is too many miles?

I got my wife a 2008 G35 sedan a few months ago. I really like the way it drives and decided that I want to find me a used coupe. I have seen some as low as $10,000 but have over 100,000 miles. I plan on modifying it so I would think the more wear on the motor, the better chance something will go wrong with the car if there is a turbo or supercharger on it. What do you guys think is the most miles I should consider? And for how much? I have also seen one for $16,000 with about 40,000 miles. Is that a good deal? I really appreciate the help guys.

The deal for $16k with 40,000 miles is a very good deal. 40,000 miles is nothing on a VQ engine. What year is the car?

PS- get laser red, they're faster.

It was a 2003 with 43 thousand miles but for only $14950. That was in Houston on Craigslist. Im sure its gone by now because it was posted on March 8.

in my opinion anything over 60,000 miles is too many miles when buying a vehicle, But once you have owned the vehicle and then put miles on the car 100,000+ is fine because you know how you've driven it and maintained it.

I'm sure there's good deals out there since car sales are stagnant, but the
best buy for you would be to find an '04 that someone has taken very good
care of with less than 50K mile on the clock....$15/$16K fully loaded. That
motor's going to last in excess of 150K miles maintained correctly. All ya
gotta due is find that car....
