hi everyone,
im 15 and a half and considering a 2006 G35 sedan as my first car. i am getting a sweet deal and it is a real dilemma. I am getting it for about $9000 with less than 25k miles. It has been expertly maintained.
One one hand, i can get the car and pay out the *** to keep it. the payments are $353/ mo. and at a part time job i am limited to 18 hours a week at minimum wage. i will drive 10- 20 mi. a day probably so gas is a problem but not too much. ... long story short, after payment and gas ill have about 40-50 dollars/ mnth. for other stuff.
on the other hand, i can buy a honda civic or some **** like that and pay a lot less per mo. but about 8-9000 bux still.
i really want the g35, i have driven it and it is phenomenal, i just dont know if ts possible. it is a once in a life time deal. i would appreciate any advice or feed back. Thanks
-DC
P.S. for clarification i should say that i am buying it from my mom, thats how i know its legit. instead of paying retail, i am just continuing her payments. also, it is almost perfect condition, the ONLY problem with the car is a 1.5" mark where something spilled and took off the paint.

The only way I see you can get a G that cheap and that many miles if its been in a bad accident. Get a Carfax on it before anything. Any how what you consider and what you might get might be different.
Good luck

Take a pic of that spot (with good lightning), I want to see how it looks maybe you can fix it.
The 40-50 bux a month is mainly for oil changes. the car still has all its warranties. things like tires and broken windshields and stuff my parents will probably buy instead of christmas or birthdays or something. if warranty doesnt cover it.
ill try to get a picture of the mark
also, my parents will cover insurance, i just need to worry mainly about small maintenance, gas and payments.
but i also may want to go to a movie or something but wont have much money, it will be a very tight budget.
i plan on saving a few months payment incase i lose my job or something

damn If my mom offered me that deal id take it in a second, but of course i make a little more than you. Anyway u need a better paying job because trust me those 50 wont do you any good

no, and you'll be paying that off for like 2 more years. Trust me, at your age, you're going to want to show that car off to your friends and all the hot girls at school. You may even get a girlfriend out of it, but when she finds out that a "date" with you is a trip to McDonald's Dollar menu, she'll be gone. It is a sweet car and an even sweeter deal but not really at that kind of cost. One small repair needed and you're screwed. Either save up some dough and convince your mom to hold off on the switch till you have a bit of spending cash in the bank, or else get a better job that maybe would let you work those 18-20 hours but pay more than minimum wage...

Lol I don't know how you will be able to live off of $40-$50 a month. I can't even stop at a gas station without spending almost that amount.

wow, that is a hard spot to be in. I remember doing something like that in high school. Whenever i would drive someone around for whatever, I would have them put money in a "change cup" for gas (gas was a lot less).
I would do whatever i could to get that deal, even if it meant a small second job somewhere once your 16 and got wheels!

I would say go for it. Like you said it is a one time life deal. You like something and you want something, go for it. Since it is within the family, I am pretty sure your parents won't be brutal enough to let you live off 50 bucks a month.. Maybe work out a deal with them? Such as maybe pay for like 2/3 of the payment and your parents cover the rest, and you extend your payment up from 2 years to 2 and half years? For the rest of half year your payment will go to your parents of course. See what they think about that. It is your parents, keep it mind, you can always work around with them; something you won't be able to do at the stealership or any private party dealers.

Eh I say no, i mean... its a sedan and you'll be starving yourself to pay for it. In 2 years or so when you're 18 you'll see another shiny toy and regret all the money you dumped in the G.
Whats wrong with a Civic? Get a nice 96+ coupe and have money left over for small asthetic mods like a drop or lip kit, keep it clean and stay away from Autozone/PepBoys specials.
Another very nice cars you should look at are Sentra SE-Rs, 240SXs, Eclipse GSX, 4th gen Preludes, 3rd gen Integras, RSX Type-S, etc...
Take your time, this is your first car, no need to go for broke. A stock car is no fun if you've no money to mod it.

Refinance the balance to get a lower payment.
Or, better yet, take it, sell it for double, and use that money to buy a different car free and clear.

I'd buy the G. You'll have a blast, and being your age if you decide it is too impractical you can always talk to your parents and sell it.
