2006 vs 2007?

Im looking to by a G35 as soon as I find the right one. I have narrowed the years down to 06-07, what are the differences between the 2 years? If nothing major I would try for 06 since the insurance would probably be slightly lower.

Nothing really. Just the years. Oh I think intelligent key became standard on all Autos for 07. But was never an option for 6mt.

The engines are all different:

'06 Auto has the VQ35DE
'06 6MT has the VQ35DE Rev Up
'07 Sedan has the VQ35HR
'07 Coupe has the VQ35DE Rev Up

ok, i'm looking to make the same decision. i can get an 06g35x w 36k miles, certified by infiniti for $19500. or i can get an 07g35x, with 25kmiles, non-certified for $22,800. both sedans
i do like the styling of the 07g better, but not sure that's worth the extra $3k, plus about $100/yr extra in insurance.

suggestions? thanks

@thundercracker, I'd get the 07 since it's the newer body style. 19500 is really high i think for a 06 sedan. For a reference, I paid 24K for my 06 back in the summer of 07. I'd love to have an 07+ just for the interior improvements in the seats.

thanks for your input. $19500 here for the certified 06 is about the best advertised deal here in the boston area right now. there are a couple of other 06's all in the 20-21$ range that are non-certified. maybe the winter is the season for this car. but this is good info. i'll see how much negotiation these places have. i'm not in a rush to buy, so i guess that's my only leverage.

thanks again!

any problems with your 06 g35?

I've had the average amount of problems with my 06. Warranty work I'd had done:

Driver seat bracket replacement (service outlined in a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB)
New compression rods (both sides) (TSB)
New cupholder

Maintenance items:
regular oil changes
new belts @ 53K miles
flush auto trans (DIY)
flush rear diff (let the dealer do this one)

I've spent approx 650 bucks in general maintenance since 7/2007 and 500 in new tires. Not bad considering I paid zero for the warranty work (probably 1000 bucks worth of parts and labor I would guess).

'07 all the way. Better body and it has the HR engine. I think the '06 is an auto which means it has a lot less power than the '07. And I agree that $19,500 is a little too much for an '06. At least it is for my part of the country.

I checked edmunds.com and they are quoting $20k as a certified dealer price, for a 35x sedan after you option it out. So what is a good price for an 06g35x sedan, with about 36k miles?

how about 07 35xsedans, anyone know what people are getting them for? here in the greater boston area, seeing them for $23-25k, certified for the higher price ones, all with about 30k miles. i am shooting for $21k for an 07, 35x sedan. too high? too low, or just right?

thanks again

The only thing wrong with book values is that they are not as accurate in an economy like this. I am a lot more familiar with 350Zs than the Gs but I see a lot of 350s selling for a good amount under Kelly/NADA/Edmunds values these days.

If you are patient enough I would think that you could find one for $21,000. Maybe not certified though. As far as the numbers go, other people here are a lot more knowledge than I am. The best advice I can give is to take your time and expand your search area. I had to go to DC from NC to get my G35, but I got it for way under book value and actually just sold it for more than I bought it for last summer.
