14k Budget, high mileage okay?

I've been looking around craigslist for a G35, but I really don't have much. I am seeing that there are quite a few older models ('03-'05) that around $11k-$15k. The only thing is that their miles are around 70-90k miles. The prices match their mileage on KBB, but is it a good idea to buy a G35 with that many miles?

hey bro.. i wouldnt recommend buying from craigslist ever.
try finding a public car auction or a person with a dealers license to get you into a dealer's auction.
that way you know what car you'll be getting with a vehicle report and stuff
also for a dirt cheap price.
i got my 06 g35 sedan with 48k miles for 14.75k.
but take into consideration that whatever car you buy, your gonna need to pay car tax, whether its at the dealership or at the dmv. so if you only have 14k to spend, your going to need to look at a car priced at around 12k

i think you are better off on craigslist then at an auction...auctions are where dealers send cars that they can't sell. craigslist is probably better for cheaper cars where you expect there to be problems in the 1000-5000 range. Personally if I am spending over 10k on a car i want it to be from a dealer with some sort of warranty.

If it was properly cared for and maintained go for it. 100k miles on one is nothing.

i just sold my 2003 with 82k mi on here:

it was in excellent condition, I even took it for an inspection at the infiniti dealership for the buyer...after looking at it for an hour all they could find was the tag light bulb out.

To the op, buying a car with high mileage would mean a cheaper price but doesn't mean it's a bad deal, if the car was from original owner that took care of it and has all paper work to back it up for cheap get it! Craigslist is an awesome place to find a great car for a good price if you have cash especially in this hurt economy when people need money.

When I bought my g35 coupe 6mt back in oct 2009, it was from the original owner with 51k miles and well maintained, only thing it was a little dirty inside but no biggy. The owner posted it for 15,900 but after two days of looking at the car I got him to agree for $12,500 cash. One hell of a deal.

bad economy so use your negociation skills to buy a slightly lower mile G. Also make sure you double check maintainance because your don't want to be stuck with one that needs maintainance done right after you buy it. that just more money
