Price Check 06 X

Sister in law offered to sell us her 06 G35X sedan cause she wants an suv now that she just had a baby. Its in very good condition, has 66k miles. She's asking $14k. Is that a good price?

Are there any issues with this model & year i should look for?

Thanks!

Ok, I'll chime in.

You can get an idea of the cars value from NADA or KBB. Also look on autotrader to see what dealers are asking.

I have an '05 X sedan 62k miles, with premium package (memory seats, smart key and bose stereo being the major features of premium package) and I was thinking of trading it for an '08 and was hoping to get $14k for it. It's in good but not perfect shape.

Things to watch out for are front suspension issues with what is known as the compression rod - intermittent squeaks from the front. Luckily I got mine done under warranty, but they can run about $450 per side at the dealer. Perhaps get the service history.

At 66k miles you'll be out of main warranty and have 4k miles left on the powertrain.

$14k isn't too bad, but there's always the griping that can happen when buying from friend or family and something serious goes wrong.

thanks for the response, i've looked at edmunds and NADA and $14 seems pretty fair plus she will gift it to us so we won't pay sales tax of nearly 8%. i made this post because other forums i am on i see vehicles go for a lot less than nada or edmunds so was wondering what real world pricing on these things are.

Your comment about the compression rod is exactly what i am looking for since i don't know anything about these cars. I don't know if hers has bose or any of those options, i should find out next week since we are switching cars with her for a week so we can test out the X. thanks for responding.

i am on a lot of forums and am dissapointed with the people on here so far
