Considering buying a "Dealer Buyback/Lemon"
First off, I'm new to the forums here.
Great site!
My question for everyone is whether or not it would be a good idea to purchase a Dealer buyback. The car I'm lookin at is a 2007 G35 Coupe 6MT w/ 56,000mi. I looked at the CARFAX the dealer sent me. It shows on the report the "Lemon/Buyback", and the dealer told me that the engine in the vehicle had been replaced at roughly 30,000mi. I googled the VIN and found a private for sale ad listing the same vehicle (presumably before being traded in to this dealer). In the private for sale ad, the owner stated the engine was replaced due to the "Oil consumption TSB."
Info for reference:
The Car: http://pensacola.craigslist.org/ctd/2734772572.html
VIN: JNKCV54E57M901500
Private For Sale ad: http://www.militarycarlot.com/Automo...%20/5854/158/0
With all of this info in mind, would buying this car be a smart decision? I figured with a new engine (hopefully not plagued by the same Rev-up oil consumption issue), and being relatively low mileage, it's a damn good price for this car.
Thoughts?

Just went and checked it out today. Aside from the minor knicks and scratches (damn factory paint) it seemed to be in great shape. And the test drive went pretty well too. Couldn't really open it up or corner like I wanted to because it was drizzling a little bit. Regardless, I didn't notice any rattles, squeaks, or other items of note. It seemed to drive just fine
Additionally, I called a nearby Infiniti dealer and asked about what kind of warranty was left over. They informed me that the only warranty I have left is the powertrain warranty (approx 14,000 miles left).
Still seems like a good buy, but I'll be bringing a Nissan/Infiniti knowledgeable buddy of mine with me tomorrow to go over it with a fine tooth comb.
What's a reasonable price that I might be able to talk them down to? I'm thinking the lowest they'll probably go will be somewhere around 17k (they're asking 18,918), but I'd definitely like some input from ya'll. This will be my biggest purchase decision thus far in my life, so I'd definitely appreciate some pointers. Thanks!
