First time buying a car, need help!

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get a used g35 for around 10k cash 50-80k mileage preferably an 05 6mt coupe. Is it possible? Also how would I proceed with buying the car? Do I hand over the money and he gives me the title? I heard I needed to pay for taxes at the DMV. If it helps I live in California. I'm also a college student so would buying a car affect how much financial aid I receive? What are the extra costs of buying a car after giving the money to the dealer/person.

Thanks

P.S. Also I'm hearing bad things about the 05 model and the oil consumption problems it has. Would I be better off with an 04 with Brembos?

Just my opinion, It's going to be really hard to find a g under 100K miles for 10k. You would hand him the cash, and he'd sign over the title to you. Yes, you will have to pay taxes at the DMV. You have to pay tag, title, and registration fees. And pay yearly taxes on it (ad valorem tax). Car also has to pass emissions. It should not affect your financial aid... at least I wouldn't think so. make sure you get a bill of sale as well.

Cool just what I was looking for, Thanks man. Just one more question about the 05 g35. There's an oil consumption problem that I hear is really bad. Is there any way to know if the car has been fixed or if the issue has been solved? If not, should I get the car even though it might have the problem and how would i fix it?
