Thoughts on this seller?

A few days ago I went to check out a Dg g35 coupe on craigslist. We met at a safeway near his work for a test drive and he gave me good vibes because he was such a nice guy. As I get in the drivers seat I attempt to adjust it so I can be closer to the clutch/gas because he was very tall. (maybe 6'2) and im 5'10. Then I realize the backnforth button on the power seats don't work. The other two worked fine but only the most important one didn't work. He then told me the only other two problems were the slight rip in drivers seat, and broken CD player. Which I am ok with and those are not big deals. . I take it around the town uncomfortably but all in all it felt like it was in good shape and not abused much.

I decide to check the engine/exteior. First thing I notice was how DIRTY the car was. I mean it looked like it hadn't been washed in 6-9 months. I mean how easy is it to get a $5 5 minute car wash from a gas station. I even asked him, "So you got rid of oem brembos?" (the car being an 04 6mt) he replied, "no, there right here". I look closer and can barely even see gold because they were so dirty. It was just gray. Other than that the paint was in good condition no major scratches and under the hood was really dirty as well but I expected that I guess.
Then I proceeded to ask why he was selling the car and he said he doesn't need a car anymore because he lives in the city (which made sense at the time) and can get around walking. But it wasn't until that night after I drove it did I realized that he works about 30 minutes away from the city...So he would take public transportation everyday? Didn't really make much sense.
We then went our separate ways and agreed to keep in touch.
But im not 100% about this guy. I know he isn't a huge car fanatic and didn't seem like somebody who would abuse the car in any way. Though some of the things I mentioned did make me iffy. Not to mention its been on craigslist for a good 2 months now.

He was asking for $11,500 which is bluebook price. I was thinking I could knock it down to $11,000 maybe even $10,500 considering its been for sale so long and its got a few issues aswell.

Thoughts on this guy?
Should these kinds of sellers be avoided?
What could I do to make sure he isn't selling a lemon?

No way I would buy that car. Maintenance is everything. That's a lot of money to put down on a wing and a prayer. Wait for a car with maintenance records or at least a great price. Have a mechanic familiar with Gs look it over before you buy. I drove two Gs that looked beautiful, seemed to drive good, but mechanically had not been cared for and had problems. They seemed nice but were big bills waiting to happen.

PS: It's not about the guy. It's about the car.

Perfect reply....^....if this car is that filthy and he's too lazy to get it washed trying to sell it can you imagine how long it's been since it was serviced....maybe never? Pass on this car, we saw posted on DRIVER yesterday an '05, super clean with only 35K miles on it's clock selling at a decent price! Keep looking, your G is out there waiting.

I wonder if this is the same car that another member was interested in. He mentioned that the seat didn't work and that the owner was very tall. IMO, keep looking around and find the right car.

How much to knock off the price?

I'm looking at a car Saturday and I'd want to know what a reasonable offer would be after all the problems the car comes with.
First off its 100k miles 04 coupe which bluebook is at $11,500.
The problems consist of a oxidized wing which is very noticeable and hazy, cd jammed in cd player, weak window motor on drivers side (will break down soon), and it needs new rear tires (10% tread).

With all these I've decided to offer him $11,000? Knocking off 500 is pretty generous as those problems would cost more to fix. Btw he was asking $12,500 but he said it wac negotiable.

well let's see,
2004 Coupe,
Excellent - $12,235
Fair - $10,259
so basically I don't ever knock off what a person's asking simply because there are issues because this car is 9 years old, there's always going to be issues, he's asking 12,500 so he's a bit high there with the few issues you've described, but' he's not going to go down much, however, I think the 11K is a fair offer, and he's probably going to take that

Need help. Im stuck, cant buy my G.

About a month ago I checked out an 04 coupe and I instantly fell in love and got it checked out by a mechanic and everything is tip top shape and we came to an agreement on price. I deposited $300 on it so he isn't selling it to anybody else.
I just sold my car that I owned last week for $5000 and I was going To use That for a down payment for a $6,000 loan that I needed to buy the G. But, I'm only 18 and have mo credit and I co signed with my mom and rah and every place we applied declined use to due lack of income on my co signers part. My co signer makes good money but has too many obligations. I can't get anybody else to co sign and I'm in a shitty situation. I never thought getting such a simple loan would be so hectic.
any advice on what to do from here? Maybe some tips to get a loan accepted.
I do work aswell and make about $450 a month whole being a student.

I appreciate your determination for someone your age. I suggest just save up some money if you can't get a loan. When you have enough, you can see what's out there. You will be without a ride until then though. If you can find a loan, it would be a good way to build up your credit so long as you make all of your payments on time. In the future, you won't have this problem. Good luck !
