Question about dealer and buying used g35.
Hey guys I have a question about a g35 purchase.
I was in the process of buying a used g35 (2007 with 75k km) and this is what the price was on the website as well as the certified logo (exactly as show in the image here).

This is from a mercedes benz dealer and this car was traded in. After looking at the car, running a vin check (came clear, no accidents) I put a down payment on it.
Fast forward a few days I get a call from them saying the car would need a strut brace as well as four new tires to pass the safety check ($200 for brace, $900 for tires + labour)
I'm located in ottawa, ontario. Am I being taken for a ride here?

Well without seeing pictures, the packages it has, etc then it's hard to say...the picture you gave with just the price and the "certified stamp" wasn't very helpful, could have just typed out the price.

Hopefully it hasn't sold then, but just judging on what I can see, if you're getting steelies for that price plus over 1000 for the repairs then I wouldn't get it unless the OTD with the repairs is closer to 15
The car comes with two sets of rims/tires. One set is the steelies with rims (shown in image) and the 2nd set is stock 18" rims (not shown image) which is what is needed the new tire replacement.
If it is being sold by a dealer, they are responsible to do certain safety checks (on their dime) to safely sell a car. All of this stuff should have been taken care of before they put it up for sale. I guess it really depends on how bad you want that car. It still sounds like you are being taken for a ride.
I went through my google cache and to the page on their site where the car was being sold (the page no longer exists on their site). It had a "this vehicle is certefied" logo on it, which from my research shows that the car had to be in working on condition at the time of down payment/sale and not tacked on afterwards.
What I think happened was after I cancelled an extended warranty on the car (I looked it up and it covered nothing and had bad reviews/bbb complaints) the guy then went and made the car get another safety check and found to be with the four wheel and bar problems.
Bassicly i'm calling tomorrow to tell them to either install the new tires/bar at no cost to me or to refund me entirely.

Certified means just that! They already did the safety check/repairs. Sounds like they were planning on making money off of the extended warranty and didn't like that you changed your mind. Good to know you have done your homework. I still think there is something shady about them. Either it didn't need the work... or it does and they will just SAY they did it. Keep us posted!
