Looking to purchasing a G

Hi, my old Maxima finally kicked the bucket and I've been looking for a car that I'd love to drive for about $10,000 and I've always liked the G35 Coupe's for a long time.

I found a Laser Red 2004 G35 Coupe w/104k miles at a dealership in my area and I'm going to be test driving it on Saturday.

I wanted to ask what I should look for in the car on my test drive as I don't have that much knowledge on the car.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Check for leaks of course. I think there was a problem with oil coming out of the valve cover gasket. See if any residue is there.

Okay, I'll check that. Is there anything else I should look out for on these cars?

Also, is it wise to purchase one of these with that much mileage?

The 2004 is virtually bullet proof. I can't think of any real problems that these things had. The oil consumption issues didn't really start to occur until 2005 with the new motor. A small issue though is the cam shaft sensor that will throw some codes at you. That's a simple DIY with a $30 part.
Hope you luuvv itttt

I would recommend thoroughly testing all the electronic switches and buttons. Make sure everything works the first time pushed. I always like to look under the car to see if there are severe gouges in the frame or exhaust as it may give a clue to how the car was driven. Check the tire wear as these cars have minor issues with alignment. The research I've done makes it seem like 10K miles is usually a good time to get it checked to prolong the life of the tires. As for the miles, that shouldn't be a concern as long as everything looks and sounds good (no abnormal or harsh noises from engine). I have 107K on my 2003 and it is running great. I've had my car for about 3 years and have only done regular maintenance and the cam sensor as mentioned above. Very easy. That's all I have off the top of my head

Thank you both for taking the time to reply and help me out.

It's greatly appreciated and I'm looking forward to owning a G35 and being a part of the forums. Thanks again.
