2007 G Coupe Problems?
The G to buy!
So im new to the form and needed some knowledgeable input. So im deciding on a g35 coupe or sedan. Yes I know clear cut question, go with the coupe, but due to insurance reasons I might not be able to afford the coupe. My absolute budget is $11,000 sticker price. I am 18 years old and am commuting approx 62miles (100km) four times a week to school, all highway driving. I do not want a car over 95,000miles (150,00km) and its MUST be AUTOMATIC. So all together I am only looking at 05-06 sedans because I do not like the look of the 03-04. As for coupes I've heard really good and bad things about the 03-04. From my knowledge the 05 is the one to get (personally the best looking), but there is alot of contradiction I hear about this. So my main concern is maintenance! If i am looking at 05-06 sedans (maybe 7) and 03-07 coupes, what should I look for and what is generally the year with less hassle/less money hungry?
Also the oil consumption issues, is that relevant to the automatics?

first what you heard about the 03-04 coupes is wrong.
the 05 looks just like the 03-04s with possibly OEM 19" wheels. the best years to get styling wise is gonna be the 06-07 coupes both inside and out. the oil issues are prevalent throughout all models however, the 05-07 revup motor coupes (6mt) and the 05-06 revup (6mt) sedans typically tend to get it worse.
best bet. go with the lowest mileage, newest year G with the best record of maintenance. whether you want a sedan or coupe is up to you.

Maybe for you it's different, but unfortunately at 18 years old, there is not an insurance company in the country that wouldn't charge more for a coupe over sedan.
Quoted the same here for the coupe and sedan.
Insurance on my 03 Coupe is ridiculously cheap. Its under my fathers name, but its $462 a year for full coverage. Not sure if that's relevant at all; just thought I'd give my two cents.

^^^^ I beg to differ. I bought my G because it's an all around great car that still looks beautiful at almost ten years young.....and having only 25,000 miles on the clock helped a lot...lol
Retracting my previous statement of just searching for 05-06 sedans I just checked out a 2008 g35x with 128,000 km (80,000 miles) and was wondering if this generation is any better than the 2003-2006 sedans, and what I should be looking out for in the way of problems?
The Best G
Looking to buy a 03-04 G35 sedan. I've heard there very problematic. Im only looking at cars with a max of 100,000 miles (160,000km) with a budget of $8,000. What are some common issues that I should look out for? It will definitely be an automatic. If the 03-04 are too problematic should I just spring for the 05-06 G sedans (If this is the case im willing to spend $10,000). I know the 05-06 are better in basically every way, but if the 03-04 are good enough I might as well get them and put more money into aftermarket parts.
