Buy it or wait? 2003 G35 Coupe - 63k miles

First off hello! This is my first post...

I'm in Canada but to keep it simple for you guys I will convert everything to miles and $USD.

The following car I'm interested in purchasing is a

2003
black
G35 Coupe
63k miles

I talked the seller down to $5700, he describes it in very good shape and runs flawlessly. At this point it was a no brainier and I was going to purchase it for that but...

I ran a CARPROOF/VIN check and found even though it has a clean title there was a $7,500 insurance claim on the vehicle for damage to the front left side of the vehicle in 2010. Carproof did not find a police report of the incident, but I'm assuming for $7,500 of repairs it was a pretty serious crash.

Would you guys stay away from a vehicle like this? Or would you jump on it while it's still available? My main concern is how it will affect resale value down the road when someone does a VIN check on it.

My other issue is I live on an island so it's a $300 ferry trip both ways so I feel like I have to be confident in the purchase if I'm shelling out that cash to go and take a look at it.

Thanks!

Don't believe everything a seller tells you
If it sounds to good to be true it usually is

These days a minor accident can easily run $7500.00

I would stay away
Buying a used vehicle is a crapshoot and it appears you do not have the ability to have the vehicle checked out by an authorized Infiniti dealer.

Perhaps a boat in the summer and a sled in the winter would better serve your needs?

Good luck

The price is almost too good to be true, but would still be worth checking out. Only way know know for sure is to go kick it's tires. If you can get out there and have an infiniti/nissan dealer inspect it and has satisfactory results, go for it.

Any pics?

63k miles is very low for that year. While the accident history is important, also check the maintenance history which is equally important. I would ask the seller directly about the accident. This info would give you a better idea what to expect. I suggest to get as much info from the seller before you make the trip and spend the money to see it.

sounds like a decent price. and like telcoman said a minor accident can run 7500 easily, my car was in a minor accident before I purchased it and It ran 5600 for a small clip... but honestly man sounds like a major PITA for a car... maybe shop around some more. Although that's great mileage for a car of that year

Ya I decided to hold off, I'm going to try and find something local so I don't have to worry about the ferry costs.

They seem to popup often enough locally so I will just have to be patient for a deal. But I appreciate everyone's advice! Now I have a general idea of what a decent deal is.

Cheers.
