If you lose the passion for cars in the future, it's even more stupid to make such a big investment now, and have to be in debt for something that you won't even really enjoy.
As an analogy, I really want a 3000+ sq ft house with a half and acre lot in a nice area in Los Angeles. But just because I really want such a house, does it make sense for me to borrow the 2 million dollars to get it and put myself in a very tough financial situation? My wife and I already owe $750,000 in various debts. Or do I ask my parents to get it for me?

you and me both! I have a pretty good paying job (well over 60k), but decided not to purchase a G35 coupe yet b/c of priorities. I have a mortgage and am paying for tution for my postbac (will take the DAT summer of 06). I probably have the G35 bug worst than anyone, but buying one now will set me back a year for dent school. Just think what an education will get you,... security! You will be able to buy these things later. And when the time comes, there will be bigger and better things out when you can afford a 35k plus car. Just wait, it is only a car (gotta tell myself that everyday). It is not worth jeopardizing your future.

I love how this kid has goals. Keep your eye on the prize.
But what bothers me about today's youth is the "I need it now" mentality.
Tangible objects are much better appreciated when striven for and bought with your own hard earned money.
Mitch, set your goals in life. Find reasonable ways and means to achieve those goals.

Unfortunately I make just barely enough money to cover my tuition and can barely even afford the insurance on my current car. What should I do?
