If my G wasn't my daily driver, I would have gotten a 6MT. At times, I wish I had a 6MT and not a 5AT, but my other two cars are manuals, and three manual cars is just too impractical. To be quite honest, auto is a nice change imo, and fits the G well.

My previous SC'd CL was an automatic... After spending so much on her, in the end I sold it for the G35.. One major reason was the 6 spd tranny.

I did regret having the 6 speed until I got the clutch adjusted. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have bought the car if I had gotten to test drive the 6MT (dealer only had autos on the lot). With the high stock clutch engagement I just didn't feel comfortable with sporty driving in 1st and 2nd gear (highway wasn't much of a difference since you don't feel the engagement as much). Now the clutch catches lower and I'm loving the car!

I am planing on staying with my car forever so yeah I would get the 6MT. You are so much more involved in driving. I agree that Coupe = 6MT no matter what Sedan = AT

My mom keeps nagging about the same everytime she drives in my car. Good thing she's my mom, anyone else would have to walk if I heard a comment like this... Who cares about smooth, can you chirp an auto?

Stop and go traffic.... Bad bad bad 6MT. (who needs to go to the gym when you have a 6MT and traffic)

Open Highways, On ramps..... Good good good 6MT.

I think everyone who has a 6MT know what they are getting into with stop and go traffic.... But I would not trade my 6MT for an AT just a few hours of convience. Well, atleast not while I am still young.

I find when I am driving I don't even notice the shifts. Even when I'm driving hard I'm just thinking about moving my feet and hands fast so I don't feel it; my body automatically tenses itself and I don't even move when it reengages since I know exactly when that is gonna happen. If I am riding, that is a different story, I'll notice if someone is shifting hard in a manual and I'm the passenger, but I like the feeling anyway, so no problems.

I'm 57 and drive a 6 MT. If I wanted an auto it would be the sedan.

thank you all for your responses.

it seems like after reading the (any 5AT regrets) thread, that most daily commuters seems to opt for the 5AT.

so...if i don't commute much, maybe 1-2 times a week in chicago traffic....it would make sense for me to get a 6mt...i guess the only thing i will miss from the automatic is that smooth upshifts lol.
