Order 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT or 5AT?
I currently have a 2003 350Z Track.
I'm thinking about ordering a 2006 G35 Coupe Liquid Platinum/Graphite because I have VPP. I just can't decide between the 6MT and the 5AT though.
If I get the 6MT, it comes with everything I want.
If I get the 5AT, I need to add the Sport-tuned Suspension Package. In total the 5AT will cost me only $828 more.
I just don't want to deal with clutch/transmission problems with the 6MT down the road. I know MOST of you will say 6MT, but I don't want to run into problems with it.
So anyone here have a lot of problems with their 6MT
I don't plan on doing anything special with the car. Just put my Volks on it and drop it...maybe de-badge it, etc. Nothing crazy.

If it were me I'd order the A/T (loaded), because that's what I like....but it's your ride, What do you like?
I know for sure you'll love the Liquid Platium --- I have it on my M and really like it.....
Post up pics when whatever you order arrives .
Colin.

6mt..........you will regret if you dont
I chose the 5AT b/c a)I also have a manual trans Mustang Cobra and more importantly b)I have hour long commutes (30 miles ea. way) in N. Cali, where traffic can be a nightmare. I try to drive my Cobra to work 1x per week, and I gotta tell ya, that's ALOT of shifting I have to do to keep it moving on our stop and go freeways.
No way do I regret getting a 5A G35C. I love it!

Thanks for welcoming me to the board. For the record, I have always loved the G35 Coupe. It's the reason I ended up saving a few bucks and getting the 350Z instead. I grew to love the 350Z, but have always wanted a G35 from the beginning.
I have definitely thought about the 298hp/260tq vs the 280hp/270tq and it pretty much equals out. The car will be a daily driver, so I have no need for it.
I've personally had a few problems with my 350z's clutch/transmission in the past, and I feel like I just don't want to deal with the maintenance of the 6MT in the long run.
If I ordered the car, I would get it w/o the premium package though. I need the headroom and I'd also like to save a few bucks.
I just looked at the Liquid Platinum and Brilliant Silver on the M's last night and I'd say it's a pretty big difference. The Liquid is much, much lighter.
My only problem is that the dealership cannot give me an "exact" price on the car being ordered since the VIN for it doesn't exist yet. It just seems like the dealership is really trying to tag on a few extra dollars w/o really explaining them to me. I understand exactly how VPP works, and I think that's what's annoying them
I was also wanting to put my Volks on the G35, but I might just sell my car as-is.

If you have traffic, grab a AT
If you dont really, grab a MT
If you are going to take it to the track, or heavily mod it, grab a MT
what I'm really saying- Is, (i have an AT) I don't regret that AT one bit-- of course sometimes i'd like to shift.. But for all those times im on the phone, or im just tired... its sooo nice to to put it in auto and enjoy the luxury of a G35 Coupe

well i have ***** and i drive auto?
am i being a pos? NO
yes...i have a bitter sitting outside...i drove manual before and i just cant stand against this shifting crap.
sometimes...i just LOVE the fact that i got AT not MT.
its all matter of rather you enjoy driving MT or not.
tired of driving MT? time to get AT.
there are things that AT lack compare to MT...but mods are there to help![Wink](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
i know...most of you would think that 6mt is unbeatable blah blah blah.
but there are pros and cons.
