The fact is if you are buying a G35 for speed then you might want to look else where for the money you are about to spend...There Quarter mile times are embarrassing and after I owning a manual 2000 Saleen S-281 driving a Auto is a dream! Don't give up your ride quality...The last thing you want is to leave off the lot with your brand new 2006 6MT G35 with your wife in the car and you are telling her how fast your car is and a 19 year old kid pulls up in a $22,000 03 Cobra and spanks you so bad that it looked like you put your car in reverse.. Go for the Auto and know that these cars are LUXURY CARS not some 18 year old punk kid race car with fat mufflers on the back.....
Vette are crazy fast & aerodynamic as well. My brother's had two hardtops.
As far as all the reliability talk I was getting at. Well, it's just from my own personal mishaps with my current car. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 350Z's 6MT identical to the G35's? If so, that is why I've been standoffish.

The AT is just as good in the cars. It has been proven way to many times that the MT does not smash the AT. Its all a drivers race. ***** Bag.

To answer the real questions which no one really seems to want to answer, yes the G35 has the same tranny and yes the G35 does suffer from all the same exact tranny problems as the 350Z. The problems just aren't as common because they're aren't as many G35 6MTs. The new 05+ 6MTs appear to have a valve in the clutch master cylinder as to limit hard launches. You can find a lot of posts about guys launching thier 05+ 6MTs, only to have the clutch stick to the floor and slip a bit.
The JATCO 5AT is the same exact tranny that serves duty in the Titan and Q45. The 5AT is more than up to the task of the G35's power.
