Ready to trade in my BMW Z4 for a G35c. Need buying help
After months of thinking whether I should part away with my Z4, I've finally decided to trade iti in for a G35 coupe.
I'm located in Bellevue, WA.
How much should I expect to pay for a G35 6-spd manual? What options are "must-get"?
Where can I get the best deal in the Pacific Northwest? I definintely don't mind travelling to Oregon for a better deal.
Another question is, say the G35 cost $35k, and (hypothetically) the dealer gives me $35k for the Z4 trade-in, does that mean that the taxes bascially cancel each other out? And I buy the G35 out the door without needing to pay more taxes?
Thanks! Really appreicate your help!

yeah. OTD price is really important.
at the time i purchased my car...i didnt really think about OTD price and was really happy with the fact that i was getting my car 600 over invoice (35500 i think).
my OTD price was lil bit below 40g.
05 AT everything except front lip and nav. and xm radios.
good luck!

I paid about $32K for my '05 6MT, which was about $1750 below MSRP. A better deal can be made, but that^s not a bad one, IMO.
As far as "must-have" options, it depends on what you want. I didn't want a sunroof, so that meant the Premium Package was out. Since the Premium Package was out, so was Nav. I think seat-memory was the only option I cared about from the Prem. Pkg.
The 6MT comes well-equiped as it is. If Navigation is a must-have in your location, then plan on getting a fully-loaded model. My specific desire was to get the lightest, stiffest (chassis) 6MT available.

Power on the other hand is almost non-existant. It weighs jsut as much as a G with about 250hp on the 3.0L and even less on the 2.5L motor.
The G is a good descision, but i really like my dad's Z too. Its great owning both in our family and being able to drive both.

I absolutely love and hate my Z4 at the same time.
The performance is superb. Hadling was great as I also had $2000 worth of aftermarket suspension on it. I love its styling and haven't gotten tired of it after 3 years and 2 Z4's (had a 2.5 before). The SMG transmission has been awesome once I got used to it. I put in about $10,000 on performance mods, rims, stereo, etc. That's why it took me so long to decide to get rid of it because every time I drive with the top down or look back at it while I walk away from it after just parking it, I get 2nd thoughts and want to just keep it.
But it's simply too problematic. There's about 10 different kinds of squeaky noises in the cabin. It could be my own fault since my suspension became a lot stiffer and I installed aftermarket stereo/nav and my interior had been taken apart a few times. The dealer has refused to fix the noises because I've got aftermarket suspension. It's also got cold engine start problems that BMW is claiming the fault of my local gas stations. The driving experiences have been awful and I find myself no longer enjoying as much anymore and more concerned about the squeaky noises and the frequent dealer visit that have driven me crazy.
That's why I intend to switch to a Japanese car and just keep it stock (well, maybe except rims and air intake/exhaust.
Am I going to be disappointed in the G35 as far as it having squeaky and rattle noises in the cabin?
Also, what are people paying for an '06 G35 6mt with premium package? What's the differences between an '05 and an '06? I really want to be prepared and not be screwed when I walk into the dealer.
Thanks! Much appreciated.

Almost any car with a "sports" suspension is going to have some squeaks. The G35 definitely has them, although most can be eliminated by having the proper tsb's performed. One thing I want to mention though - your dealer is not allowed to refuse warranty work based on your aftermarket suspension. It sounds like you're ready to be rid of the Z4, but if you're on the fence at all it might be worthwhile to find another dealer to check out those rattles you're hearing.
