Talking Buying Requires Good Timing?

i wanted to go in today to negotiate a deal. I've been reading on the websites and they say that the BEST time to buy a car is at the end of a month on the last weekend because that's when sales managers push to meet quota and they're desperate to sell cars so they'll be very lenient. Do you guys think I should follow this notion or should I just go in today and negotiate? After all, saturday is only 3 days away. I've waited this long to get a G, I could wait 3 more days

Just set a realistic price target. Do research. If they meet your price, great. If not come back another time. Sure, dealerships will want to meet quota but what if it was a good month and they've been selling cars left and right? Then it doesn't matter what time of that month you go an negotiate, they won't budge.

Generally you might go when they get into a slowdown in sales. This *might* happen when the 2007 G35 is announced in April. I'd assume a lot of folks would wait for a 2007, thus making it harder to sell a 2006. I bought my car at the end of April of 2005, and Infiniti had a "for this month only" special 1.9 / 2.9 APR deal that kept getting extended from January, clear through May.

Good luck. :-)

Wait..it only makes sense. I've heard that too (actually, I bought my car on August 29th...end of the month. Another approach to take is tell them that you're looking around and you're not in a rush, unless you come across a great deal on one....tell them you've done your homework. Just a thought.

IMO end of the month is sort of the best time to go because even if they've hit quota they still will want to go over. Another thing is shop around don't pick one dealership and commit to them, if they don't hit the price that you want shop around and tell them you'll be back, they'll call...they always do.

YUP....you'll get some dealerships that just won't budge....then the ones that want to sell you a car. They didn't call me (luckily)....as if I wanted to talk to them, I'd call them. Annoying experience....when I was looking for a car, it was between the Maxima and the G. I told BOTH dealerships that I was just looking and wouldn't be making a purchase for another 3 months. The G dealership respected that, gave me some quick, rough pricing & I was out the door after the test drive. The Nissan dealership on the other hand...."So, what will it take to get you out of the door with a new Maxima"; and I said "nothing...I told you I am not buying now"...he then asked again later a 2nd time...then for the next 2 weeks he kept calling me @ my work place...I just screened his calls. So them calling you back isn't always the best thing...unless of course they end up giving in to your last $ offer you made for a G (like $400 over invoice)!

Good luck!
