I think your best bet would be to go with a used accord or civic, something not too nice so when you bump stuff and curb hop you won't freak out. That and when (or if) you wreck it won't be a horribly devestating ordeal.

i wouldn't get anything that would make other students at your high school feel jealous and want to key the car that your parents bought for you.

well my school is in a relatively good neighborhood and there are pretty nice cars there (3-4 rx-8, m3, xk8, g35 coupe etc) also, i live litterally 2 minutes from my school so i won't drive there often if ever.

So fukcn true man lol Tooks the damn words right out of my mouth. Since you said your not into the whole race scene and are looking for a good reliable yet at the same time luxurious car id say definetly to look into a nice 2002-ish Audi a4 (you'll love the awd during winter ask anyone on this forum lol) or as stated before the 2006 Civic Si. Civics are incredible on gas mileage and are amazingly reliable man. Gluck with your future choice though. Let us know what you finally decide on.

RSX-S is a fun car. My sister has one I drive it every now and then. If you want 2 doors look at the RSX-S if you want a 4 door look at the TSX ~ their both just about the same price. I personally am in love with acuras white, that polar metallic white looks so incredible when waxed! This is the only pic I have of our cars togerther...

Don't waste your money. Get a used car that you can afford, that you can learn to wrench on, that you wont feel bad about breaking stuff on, that you won't feel bad about banging up too much, and one whose inevitable repairs you can afford to fix.

+1 to andy2434 - work on your education.

And don't get an old Civic if anyone's suggested that. Preludes have been around long enough now that you can afford one of those, and they're light-years beyond the Civic in terms of overall performance, and upgrades are readily available. I had two of them—after my Civic of course.

Get the new Civic SI or used RSX S that will put you to mid 14's stock and close to a G, if you get the G there will be more hater out there especially at school. I read a thread here that his G got keyed from front all the way to the back at his school, eventually good thing he found out who did it but that suck.

I agree. My first car when I was 16 was 5 years old and had 75k on it. It was an '83 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. It was in pretty good shape when I bought it, but I fixed it up myself and made it even nicer. I did most of the work myself. Car cost me $2,500 at the time, or about $10k in today's dollars. Paid for by myself, not my parents.

Because I worked hard for that car, and maintained it myself, it was my pride and joy, and I took really good care of it. Because the car wasn't new and required some maintenance and repairs, I learned a lot from it, while at the same time keeping it nice and reliable.

And IMO, I had a nicer, and much more fun car than a brand new econobox. Yeah, the Civic Si is nice...for an econobox. But I think you'll be better off with a used 4 or 5 year old car that is at a much higher level than a Civic. Just don't stretch yourself too thin financially like with a late model G35 Coupe.

Not to mention you're better off with a larger, safer used car than a small new econobox in a crash. The #1 cause of death and injuries in 16 year olds, especially male 16 years olds, is car crashes. You'll do much better in a crash with a 5 year old luxury car than in a brand new econobox.

I'm thinking something like an '01 Lexus SC 430, or GS 430, BMW 535i (budget at least 5k for maintenance and repairs though), etc. Think about it: would you rather have a new Civic, or one of those cars? $25k can buy you a really nice used car, or a mediocre new car. The question is, how much is that new car smell and warranty worth to you?

thanx for the contrasting view, i must admit that the sc430 is one great car, but it holds value like none other, after five years it is still in the high 30k range and way too expensive, also i am starting to like the idea of driving an si, but the tsx, and rsx i think is where i'm leaning towards

also anyone know anyother good looking japanese cars, (preferably comfortable to drive, reliable and have pretty good performance)
