yes, I am 16 but I am a pretty good driver, I respect cars so I am not stupid on the road. Only on the track. I was in 1 accident(however I saved a totaled car and insurance over $10,000, I should get rewarded instead of punished). My two left tires blew out (one had a small piece of glass and the other I have no idea). The PSI were fine. But I kept the Jeep Liberty(they roll EASY!) from flipping(I race quads and understand how suspension works). Also the one shop that was going to do the work told me there was over $10,000 worth of damage(saying I needed new front end, suspension, and other things). I said "Don't touch my car and give me my keys now". I did not intend to be rude but I DO NOT PUT UP WITH PEOPLE RIPPING OTHER PEOPLE OFF. Turns out only $850 woth of damage. I could not do the work my self due to insurance policy but the labor was $2000. I laughed when he said front end. I was like im 16 but not stupid. My family is HUGE motor/car guys, I know a thing or two. I am currently looking into the shop. Would that be considered insurance fraud? But my monthly payment went from $80 to $112 a month. How gay is that. Wouldnt you reward me with how I saved your insurance, cost wise(totalled Jeep and over $7,000 ripped off price).
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would like to know from fellow Canadian members what their insurance companies say about "modifications" to your vehicle.

My insurance company is giving me a hard time about my car being lowered." If I hit a bump in the road, I might loose control of the car"...what rubbish!!!!

All the other mods are ok. They have given me until next April to revert back to OEM springs.

Thanks everyone...

Bill
Has anyone checked in about mods to their cars???

Debating between Canada and US insurance rate is completely unfair.

When I lived in NYC, my dad's camry (97 Camry I4 LE model) was only $600/yr. When we moved up here... it rose up to $1100/year and that was considered cheap, my dad was like "WTF????"

Most US states insurance are cheaper than any canadian provinces...

You don't have much of a record but like you said you did have an accident. Both are problems and both are considered when they come up with your quote. It's a matter of demographics and trust. Since you fit in the risky category (age and gender) and since you haven't earned any trust yet you're rates will be high.

Definitely shop around. Get some online quotes but also visit some local businesses.

My advice is to buy a safe reliable 4 door vehicle (used is advisable) and use that till you're done high school and college. I know it doesn't sound as fun as a G but hopefully you'll have proven that you're a safe driver. By then, they'll be a lot of new cars that are a lot better than G and the current competition.

In my situation I did not own a vehicle for high school or college but was listed as an occasional driver on parents policy. I had no tickets or accidents and bought my first car at age 24. I paid 1100/yr which is cheap here and it has been going down 100 a year ever since.
