Sorry to hear about the soreness Shane. As you run more your legs adapt some more to the pounding. I have many many war stories I won't bore you with.

Tomorrow may be worse and then you'll be on the serious mend. An epsom salt bath will help but even better is a cold water one. Best is an ice water bath if you can handle it for 5 minutes or so. Also take some ibuprophen the next number of days.

Thanks for the tips Deane. I expected that my legs would be sore since they are not used to it, but I didn't think they would be this sore.

I am not sure if I could do an ice water bath for 5 minutes or not.....my little buddies would be the size of raisins!

Been there. Most elite runners do this for a 20 minute session every day.

My favorite way to do a therapeutic treatment if you have a hand held shower nozzle is: Turn water on full cold moving shower head slowly over the sore areas taking about a minute for each area. (This is very cold in the winter time )Then turn back to warm for about a minute doing the same thing. Repeat this process several times finishing with cold. Your legs will feel better as you are helping flush the lactic acid out and soothing the inflammation with cold.

Deane,
What about Epsom salts in the bath? Ever try 'em for recovery? (My massage therapist put me onto them when I was racing motocross). Much easier to take than ice water.

Cheers,
D
