Good find.

I find it interesting that they state the IS350 might have the advantage over the new G35 because of its 6 speed automatic. I think that any advantage the IS350 has from its 6 speed auto is nullified due to their lack of a manual tranny option.

Good find MB.....that ride will be real special.....
306 ponies is very impressive......I expect the new coupe in '08 will get a 'bump' in hp too.
Infinitis are going to be even more impressive in the near future.

Yeah good find, confirming what we already know.

From what others are saying that have driven it the Lexus is not in the game from a chassis/handling perspective. One thing I noted is the author did not make reference to the 335 coming very soon.

It will be interesting to see what the Coupe will have as a powerplant. Infiniti will likely be tight lipped about that as well.

I dunno about the auto thing with the IS350 - that is one fast AT; way faster than the Infiniti 5AT. I still think both the IS350 and 335i will be faster; Infiniti is going to have to bank on handling better than the IS (which should be easy) and being priced ~$5+k less than the 335i (which also should be easy).

The thing I wonder most about is what the confirmed torque of the new G35 will be. If they had to reduce tq into the 260/270 range to get 306hp...well...ya.

I guess I was just speaking from a customer buying perspective rather than a performance one.

Oh ya, definitely. It wigs me out that the IS350 isn't even offered in a MT, but frankly I personally don't see the IS's as competition to the G35/335i. I know that's probably an unpopular view, but having driven the IS350 a few times now as fast as it is it feels way too soft and clumsy to me, even with the VDIM disable trick.

Kevin, the IS is somewhat faster than the outgoing G sedan. I believe the addition of another 31 SAE horsepower in the '07 G with the same relative weight may make it a closer showdown regardless of tranny. However, it's highly doubtful either of these will match the new 335.

We can pretty well guarantee the G will run circles around the IS in the handling department. It's most likely you're right about the significant price point difference between the G and the 335. I think torque for the new G sedan has been confirmed at 270.

IS350 will still come out on top... an extra gear does it...

but, after all, only the real world test will tell for sure. i want real life 1/4 runs.

They put on under 20lbs with the base and sport models? Damn, gotta give it up to Infiniti on that; they gained room, tech, engine power, dual exhaust, and didn't give up weight. Can't say the same for the porky IS350 or 335i that's for sure. Both cars are significantly smaller and weight the same or more.
