But will the light still go on if you stay within the overall diameter of the factory wheels? or am i missing something here?

Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
Big_h,
It would work if the 2004 G35C had an ABS based TPMS, however, we have wireless units in the stock rims that sends the pressure measurement to be processed and displayed. So if the stock rims are gone then so is the wireless unit.
This is what Infiniti told me, I've yet to put my winter package on, so will be able to tell you definitely in a couple of weeks....

Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
Each wheel has an independant wheel sensor in it, without them the low pressure warning will come on. You can buy the sensors x 4 or simply adjust so that the warning does not come on. We tried it on an M45 so the next G35 with the sensors that rolls in here I'll have a look to see if it works there too.

Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
Guess I was the first 2004 G35 Coupe to change tires&rims at Yorkville. The tire pressure warning light does NOT light up. Either the sensors were manually disabled somehow or are automatically disabled when all four sensors are not detected. My guess is the latter...I'll try to confirm with Jerry.

Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
Got my FRDs (CSA Gladiators) with Pirelli snowsport210 installed this morning... no TPMS light came on. Seems like when the stock rims are taken off, there is no valid signal going to the car so it doesn't turn-on the low pressure warning light.... not a bad design in my opinion....
Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
Some interesting developments. After switching to winter tires and rims, I thought that the tire pressure monitor was disabled. However, I did some long-distance highway driving and after about 100kms the tire pressure monitor lighted up! I checked my tires and they seemed okay, maybe the additional pressure from heat caused a bit of over-inflation. I re-started the car after about a 1/2 hour stop and the warning light turned off. However, later in the day on the way back, after another 100kms of highway driving it went off again! This leads me to believe that the tire pressure monitor is still functional! How?? Is it built into the brakes as opposed to the wheels?
Does anybody know exactly how this tire pressure monitor system works?

Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
This happened to me a couple of days ago. Similar situation ... during a long highway drive, the tire pressure light came on. Once off the highway, I turned the key off, then re-started, and the light was off.
Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
This is very interesting. I was told by Infiniti mechanics that the TPMS xmtr for sure is in the rims. So what would cause the light to go off on a long high-way drive ?... I've driven it on a highway but only for less than 30mins. or so with no lights coming on....
Could there be a time-out so that if the car doesn't get a signal from any tire for 4-5 hrs. it puts the light on ?

Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
Put on HANKOOK tires work great on the stock 18' , when leaving the dealer sensor light came on, put a few extra psi in the tires and no prob. I dunno maybe the sensor will not go off if you have diffrent rims becuase it does not reconize any tires on the car, and when you have your stock rims on and a tire has less/more pressure it reads it, the SENSOR is located on the value stems.
BUT IT LOOKS SWEET KEEPING THOSE 18' ON ALL YEAR

Re: 2004 COUPE TIRE MONITOR
If the sensors are located on the valve stems, then why did the TPM light activate after some long highway driving for those of us who switched rims and tires?? It can't be, unless there is a time-out feature that Syntro mentioned (although I've driven for a longer time period in the city without the TPM activating). I am positive my winter rims and tires do not have sensors in the valve stem too.
What a pain-in-the-*** feature this TPM is turning out to be...
