Let it snow!

Installed the 17" FRD's and Blizzack LM-22's today, also installed Redline Synthetic GL-4 Transmission Oil the other day. I'm ready!

Re: Let it snow!

yes, damn you! I'm still trying to decide whether I should sell my beater for winter tires or just garage the G for the next few months.... =(

I want to keep my coupe in the safe, warm garage but I'm afraid I will miss it too much. I can't afford to pay insurance on both cars at the same time so I will have to choose one or the other for this winter... any advice?

Re: Let it snow!

I'm keepin mine in the garage. I don't want to risk sliding into someone or something when it gets slippery and messin up my G. Why take the chance, that's my .02. I'm still keeping insurance on it just so I can take it for rides when the weather is sunny.

Re: Let it snow!

get rid of the beater, you have heated seats for a reason, does your beater? ... i'm betting no.

drive and enjoy the fruits of the G.

Re: Let it snow!

My "beater" actually does have heated seats... it's only a beater cuz I drove and beat the crap out of it for the last 5 years.

anyway, I'd really like to drive the G year round. but my main concern is when you have to scrap ice and snow off of it! you know when the snow melts a little then re-freezes? that sh8t is hard to get off and you end up having to scrape your windows really hard.

btw, Dally, where do you live and how are the winters?

Man, i got to find a 18s tires soon, it's getting really cold outside...... so Dally, the redline place doesn't has 225/45/18 and 245/45/18 in stock?

Re: Let it snow!

Are you kidding? By the time I get this sub install finished and the supercharger, I'll be broke. The installers are telling me that when they are finished with my car I will be able to win car shows and get some of my money back in prizes. I don't know but I think he was being serious.

Hey Noahh

If you're in the market for just 18" performance winter tires and not having any luck with local suppliers, check out www.tiretrends.com.

This is a shop out of Vancouver and very good to deal with. Ask for Bob or Mort and they'll give you an additional 5% off (basically free shipping) for being a member of the G35 Forum. In addition, because it's coming from BC, you don't have to pay PST. Only GST will apply. I picked up a set of 18" Hankook Ice Bears for a little over $800. bucks to be mounted on the stock rims. 20" rims will come in the spring..Yeah baby!

They also stock Bridgestone and other winter brands.

Re: Let it snow!

Hey neohh, I hear ya, but I waited a long time to get this car so I've had lots of time to save my pennies.

Another reason that I want to keep insurance on the car over the winter is because the car will probably be sitting in various shops over the winter to have work done on it, so I will have to keep insurance on it.

Re: Let it snow!

I'm going to put my coupe to bed for the winter in about 3 weeks time. Then I'll be getting around in my 2003 Subaru Outback Sport or my wife's Land Rover Discovery. Both have heated seats and AWD. I wouldn't want some bozo roaring around in the snow, out of control, trashing my coupe. This is not everyone's solution, but it works for me.
