Flush or condition
Just had my winters put on at a new garage in Waterloo. They did a fluid test and recommended a flush or at least a conditioner for the anti freeze. Results were: good to -37 and an 8 for acidity. 10 is what I assume is neutral. Any thoughts?
It's a new place and I just want a feel if they are giving me the straight goods. They ordered the Hankooks 300's, installed and balanced them for me on my own 17's at the best price I could find $770. They are even keeping my spring setup for $30 until I need em.
PS it snowed this afternoon. Big Fricken flakes and it was cold too.

Good luck with the new boots. Hope that you don't have to try them out immediately though.

It seems a little excessive to me, but they say it's best for all the internals and not that expensive.
It's up to you, but if it were mine, I'd do it.
I think Deane is right on the acidity......7 is neutral, 8 is slightly alkiline, below 7 would be acidic....
Those Ice Bears are supposed to be real good. Well able to handle those "big flakes"......

Hey Sam,
Like Colin said, every two years you should have the car flushed. By that time, the coolant will start to break down and not give you the protection that you need for the temperature changes.
A 50/50 mix is best....
Sorry to hear about the snow

Brake Fluid
Hi guys,
I took a mechanics course a couple years ago and the guy suggested adding a bottle of brake fluid to your coolant once a year would do the trick. No need to flush&fill. Though, I haven't tried it myself yet.
