Insurance Question.

Firstly, I searched for the answer to my question, and although I found some possible answers, they were mainly related to the States, and I'm sure the same does not apply to us.

I'm going to court tomorrow for a ticket, and as this is the first time I have to deal with such a situation, I have a couple questions.

I will most likely get a couple points tomorrow, and I am unsure as to how the conviction gets sent to my insurance company. Will my insurance be affected immediately, or will this charge be added the next time I renew my insurance? Do I have to make them aware of the ticket, or do they find out on their own. Also , have I understood correctly that this ticket will be on my record for three (3) years?

Thanks for the help,
Troy
