Best place to change brake pads other then dealership?
Anyone have specific experience with a place that good brake work?
I got the pads already, just need em installed, i checked the instructions on how to do it and i don't think i'm qualified, lol.......
so any good places you've been to, please let me know and how much it was.
I'm starting to hear squeaks and i'm assuming it's my brake pads, hopefully won't have to machine the rotors

You would be surprised how simple it really is. Not sure how mechanically inclined you are but it's an easy DIY project. No special tools needed, mostly stuff everyone has.
Here's a useful link if you decide to go for it.

This all said, I do agree it's simple to do, BUT be sure to have an experienced assistant if it's your first time. Brakes should be 1st) done right and 2nd) done cost effectively (substitute 'cheap' if you need to...), but remember that if it can't be done right, it shouldn't be done at all...

Just remember to crack open the top on the master cylinder before pushing back the piston. And most important remember to tighten it back after you are done and press the brake pedal a few times before you drive off.

I would recommend an independent shop that I and some other board members use: Simone Performance in New Market...
Give Vic a call: 905 853 1677; nice guy to deal with.
If you doubt why should you go so far, I can tell you that I travel from Downtown Toronto to him just for small stuff like a brake pad change or brake system flush because I believe in his quality of work!
I guess more people could chim in on this topic

A friend of mine owns a shop called RPM services, I have known him since Jr High and he just recently change my rotors and pads. His name is Blair 416-421-6322. Tell him Peter sent you.
My car is at Simone Performance right now getting hawk pads, an alignment, tranny fluid, and some other stuff done. Vic is a good guy - so is Steve. My buddy Sean at the Detailing Shop is right beside him for ceramic tint, clear bra, etc. And there's a great Thai restaurant right there too to pass the time (where the Italian place used to be, for those that know the area)

Vic drove me over to the plaza over by Yonge St for some Italian food when I had my car in for service. Great Sandwiches!!!
I'll remember to try the Thai place next time I'm there.
Thanks for the heads up!!!
When did Vic get the alignment machine in? He was just talking about it during my last visit( DEC 06).
Thanks Mike

It must be fairly new - he now has an "alignment bay". I'm thinking that I should get Vic and Sean to host a spring meet, and get the Thai place to cater it. I'm sure that they would be happy to share some knowledge, maybe do a car or two, point some basic stuff out, etc.
I'll mention it to him this aft when I'm in there....maybe we can have a draw for a tint or tune-up...

It would be great to know..... (when you're in next time)
- what equipment he's using?
- Is it a 3D laser setup?
- & can he get lowered vehicles on the rack?
