Canadian Online Income tax return Problems.

Aparantly a hacker has done something with the T4 slips that cause problems when you prepare & file your personal Canadian income tax return online.
It was on the news last night.
My local store is holding my copy of Quicktax for me, but apparently there is some glitch that was put into the system that prevents people from using these programs.
They are trying to rectify the problem as I speak.
Anyone else heard about it?

The problem is not with the tax preparation software, it's the CRA's computer systems.
There's a news release on the CRA site: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/newsroom/re...r070306-e.html

Thanks for that info,I tried doing a search on this matter earlier to no success. I knew I could get an answer here .

So do you think it will get rectified, or should I hold off purchasing this years Quicktax program.

You can go ahead and prepare your return with QuickTax. At worst, you might just have to file by mail or by phone if they can't fix the NetFile.
I found out about the problem when I tried to file our returns online last night. I'm just going to wait a few days and see what happens.

+1. they are serious about stuff like this. Wayne, I would hold off until they give the all clear to file. you don't want your return floating around until the problem is fixed. JMO.

I don't think you have to worry about returns floating around. CRA didn't just recommend that people not efile, they
disabled the NetFile portal altogether. They won't turn it back on until it's good to go.

Hey, GEE35X, got your return finished? Sounds like we should be able to NetFile tomorrow.

The last I heard, they were hoping to have Netfile back up and running by Thursday.

Wow, K and I both received our refunds already. Pretty fast service filing through Netfile.
