The insurance company didn't believe him for some reason and turned around and asked him he he hit someone else and took off. I'm with the same company and I'm afraid they're going to say the same thing to me (because of my age).
If the vehicle was parked at your house and someone hit you, they are not going to say you hit soemone else. I don't know the circumstances with your friend but this is what I do day in and out and I see this all the time.
You will probably find it will still be more than $2600, your best bet is to put in a claim, they are not going to try to screw you.
As much as people like to think, the insurance company is not out too screw you.
If a claim is valid, we pay out, that is it.
If you have any other questions, PM me and I will give you my home # and advise you what to do.

Thanks for the help but I think I will just pay for it myself. Lesson learned, never park on the street when there is snow on the ground.

I have to re-inforce again, this shouldn't be lesson learned, people can hit you wherever you park.
This is NOT your fault, Your rates will NOT increase, you will only have to pay your deductible. If you are afraid to contact your insurance company, than maybe you should look at switching. I am not soliciting you in any way,I am just telling you that I build a relationship with my clients so that they can call me about things like this and will not be afraid of their rates going up by making a phone call.

I have many years experience at this and I would hate to see you pay close to three grand out of pocket when I know you wouldn't have to.

Good advice Matt. I think we are lucky to have someone in our region that we could call on for advice and you are so willing to help out.

There are agents around who do consider it a straight job and do not want to hear anything about it outside of 9 to 5.

I am fortunate myself since I can call my agent up any time night or day and they will help me out if I am in a bind.

That's what separates some who enjoys what they do and someone that treats it as a source of income.
I am here to give advice whenever possible and I am not trying to solicit you for business. It's the same if I asked someone advice about their profession and they gave it without any strings. We have a friendship here based on a common interest and it is nice if someone can help out someone else in a bind when you need it and not expect anything in return.
That's the way it goes.
Hapyy Easter everyone
Matt

B_willy, I would take the advice from Matt. I don't understand why you're declining help when this is clearly a case of "hit and run" and you're not "at fault". Insurance is exactly for incidents like this so that you don't have to pay out of your pocket. Also, it looks like your car was hit pretty hard and there may be more damage than you think and might end up costing you more than you've been quoted.

what are you paying your premiums for? if you don't want to call them when needed.

I just looked over my insurance papers, and realized that I have only liability coverage.

Only liability on a G35?! My god man, you only put PLPD on a sh*tbox not a G!
Who in their right mind would let you walk out the door with a policy that doesn't cover collision or comprehensive on a $30k car!
Something is weird here dude
