klump klump

I'm getting a Klump, klump, from the front end when I go over bumps. One Klump for every bump. The sound is generated when either front wheel goes over a bump. Springs? Shocks? I've got 107k on her.
I'll try to get her in to check it in the next couple of days.
Thanks in advance.

Try to spray some silicone lube into sway bar bushings.

Thanks for the tip.
If I have to do both the shocks and springs... anybody know what I could expect to pay? Why should I consider coilovers?

Wheel bearing? Ball joint? Sway bar link? It could be anything Sam. I doubt that it would be springs but maybe shocks. I would take it to a mechanic and get him to pinpoint the problem and then decide what you should do. JMHO.

Thanks Sammy,
Anyone know a reputable mechanic in the KW area? All my "work" on the G had been done by Infiniti and Nissan dealerships.

Bummer you're so far, I'd send you to RMP.

I think someone mentioned coilovers because it replaces the spring/shock and would also lower the car. Coilovers vary in price from ~$900-$2,000 or so, mostly they are in the middle of that range.

Maybe ask Marco if he knows any good shops out there?

Hey Sam....
Did they have any of the suspension apart when they repaired the front end?

The first thing I'd check is sway bar links.
They had a reputation of causing this type of problem
In '05 the links were upgraded & beefed up a little.

Too bad you weren't closer... I have a spare set here.

I don't think they had the suspension apart. They did an alignment though.
I'm sorry I'm not a little closer as well.
There's a midas in Elmira where I work. Do you think they could tell me what's wrong?

Sam, let me know if it is the shocks or springs because I still have my stock setup that I could sell to you at a reasonable price if you are interested. I think that they were on the car for a whole month or 2 before I swapped them for the Tien's. I was going to keep them just in case I returned the car to stock but it doesn't look like that is going tohappen. Just a thought, let me know!

Good luck with the car!

Yeah,, what was I thinking. I'll probably take it to the Nissan in town or off to Guelph for Infiniti service. Not many shops around here have experience with an Infiniti. However they are all willing to give it a go.

Thanks for the offer Sammy, I'll keep it in mind.

Don't I know it. I'm almost resigned to going to the stealership, just for a little more piece of mind. I'll check out the Nissan and Infinity stealers to gwt quotes for shocks, my best guess and then go form there. Means I'm stuck with oem and the price tag that goes with it. Don't want to put myself or anyone else in danger by driving an unsafe car.
Thanks for the help and suggustions.
Sam

Had a local garage in Elmira check the G out. He said it sounded like the compression rod. He was waiting for one for another G he services ( lucky me ) that is back ordered. Yup, that's what it was. Quote of about 6 bills to fix. So, I called up Guelph Infiniti and ........ short story ..... they'll split the cost. Just gotta wait for the part. Maybe by then the left one will go too.
I'll keep you posted.
