It's a shame.... the Sens might as well have mailed it in & saved the air fare.

I agree with you totally. They did not come out to play. They got beat by a better team. But I do have to say, congrats to them for making it to the finals.

I guess so.....
But they're still one of the biggest underachievers in the league.

That seems true. The big guns weren't showing their stuff they way they should.

However I also agree they deserve to be congratulated on their road to the finals.

90% of Californians don't know what hockey is? Try 99.99999%. When the Sharks got to the division finals a few years ago I *walked* in and got tickets the night of game 4. There was an article about people's ambivalence toward hockey that year in the Chronical - people there would rather watch grass grow. It's sad.

Your estimate is probably a wee bit of an exaggeration but I take the point. I was trying to be generous in a Canadian kind of way.

Many US folks aren't involved in hockey in any way at any point in their life hence the ambivalence or ignorance. If you don't grow up playing, coaching, watching etc you have no exposure to it. So it gets little media attention and can't get a foothold.

Baseball for example is huge because much of the US population grow up playing it. There isn't much other reason someone would watch such a slow, boring, non athletic type of game.

The Anaheim Ducks deserved the cup as they were the superior team. I however still beleive they played the trap. Many other team will see the outcome as defence vs offence which will lead to the return of the trap next year as well.

The Senators had a great second half season and an amazing playoff run this year . Everyone counted them out and expected them to choke, yet they made it to the Stanley Cup finals. We will be back next season and finish the job .

Good luck to the other Canadian teams. I don't care who makes it, let's just bring back the Cup home. That's 3 year in a row we fail .

Absolutely right.......Edmonton, Calgary and now Ottawa deserve kudos for making it so far (in successive years collectively).......so we should all be proud of their achievements.....

Anaheim simply outplayed Ottawa and deserved to win, but the Sens got some needed, valuable experience which will help from now on.....

You can bet they'll be hungry to make a return appearance......

Go Canada!
